Am new to solar and looking for advice on battery care.
Have had my system installed for a month. 5kw of panels split east/west. 3.6kw hybrid inverter on eco mode, 5.2kw battery & eddi.
So far the days have been bright and the system has worked well and given me 75% plus of my electric needs. On the first bad solar day the battery did not get much charge and had fallen to 2% by the next morning. It charged up to full ok as the day progressed. A week later it happened again after a bad solar day so I changed the battery reserve and cutoff limit from 4% to 5%. After this the battery fell to 3% a couple of times but otherwise performed fine.
The days are now getting darker and after a bad day yesterday the battery level had fallen to 1% by this morning. The overnight voltage and temp were fairly consistent at 53/54v and 18/19 deg. The weather is not great today and the battery is not going to get much charge.
Should I raise the battery reserve and cutoff limit to a higher level for the darker days ahead or just leave at current level for the system to take care of its self.

The battery firmware will look after the battery for you. GE batteries are over sized so your 4% bottom is actually a false bottom and the 'reserve' in the battery is higher. This is how they guarantee such a good DOD range.

The inticated state of charge has a buffer built in so the batteries normally never get below about 20% true SOC when showing 4% indicated SOC (IIRC), so there's no danger of damaging the cells. Also, if the indicated SOC gets down to 0% or the cell voltages actually dip too low, then the inverter will automatically top up the charge from the grid until it gets to an indicated 4%.
