If I decrease the charge power on my battery settings so that I get a longer slower charge from cheap electricity overnight, will it also effect my ability to charge the battery from PV during the day? At the moment battery charge is set to maximum (3000W) and even on a sunny day PV rarely gets above 2100-2400W at peak solar times. I'd like to be kind to the battery, but don't want to miss out on any free electricity.

Do you get paid for export (e.g. SEG)?
If the DNO limits what you can export, slowing down the charge from battery can be handy sometimes.
E.g. if you get the most sun at lunchtime, you don’t want to fill your battery too fast as if it’s full before that point, and you’re not using the electricity in the house (say washing machine etc), the solar production might be clipped, to limit the output, thus keeping the export under the agreed limit.
Whereas if the battery isn’t full by that point, that clipping might not happen or might not be as bad.
