I have an automation set up as Standalone Battery Eco mode. This is supposed to charge when the Octopus Agile tariff is at its lowest.

Today that would be at 22:30.

At 8:30 today the half hourly rate was 0.05 pence cheaper than most of the day, and the battery started charging until completely full.

I would have expected it to charge later on this evening when the price was 10p a kilowatt hour cheaper, not 0.05p cheaper.

I’ve also seen the battery not charging from solar at all in some modes, which seems completely wrong; I can see I’m exporting to the grid instead which seems madness.

Is there a better way to automate behaviour when using Agile, maybe via Home Assistant running on a Raspberry Pi?
