I have had my PV System for 6 months and all was looking okay, i.e. I think I understood the numbers.
But since the New Year I have had a number of spikes of around 28000 in the 'Grid Import' graph. When I looked at the actual numbers I see that when these happen the Load Power goes to 0 and I export a ridiculous amount (the highest was 33.39 on the 2nd. It was not a heat wave and I do not live at the equator. 😃
Has anyone else experienced this or any ideas?
On the whole you can ignore spikes. The portal is not continuous but only shows data at 10 minute intervals. We all see misleading spikes if the data collection coincids with a significant change in load and/or generation.
The issue is that when spikes occur in a day other statistics go wrong. For Example - yesterday
Four times the Import went to 30k - the longest lasted for 30 minutes. This resulted in the statistic of 53.41 kW exported!
Also I consumed -6.81kW (negative!)
So why should one strange statistic affect the others?
I got spikes of on average 50kW when my system was first commissioned, I contacted GivEnergy and was told to turn the system off immediately, they sent out an Engineer and after replacing the inverter the same problem occurred, he figured out that an older meter was conflicting with the GE gear, once a new OB115 meter was in that sorted it, this was the first time they had encountered this issue apparently. If you've only recently encountered this issue after 6 months of it all working ok, its probably not this though.
