I am sure that this has been discussed before but I hope that someone with a similar set up can advise.
Currently I am on Octopus GO, we have solar panels, GE 8.2 battery, EO charger, Tesla Model 3.
With this set up I can 'protect' the battery from being drained by the charging car by setting the Cahreg mode to Solar + Grid with Start Time 00:30 End Time 04:30 and Charge Up To set depending on the time of year (ie expected solar generation) The Battery Discharge Mode is Dynamic.
As my current tariff will end mid March I need to decide to move to the current Octopus Go or the 'new' Inteligent Octopus and considering how I manage to protect the battery. I currently usually charge the car once or twice a week and always ensure that I only do that during the 00:30 to 04:30 window to get the cheap rate and also as my battery is set to charge then the battery is not drained. If I went to IO do I just change the start and end to 23:30 05:30? But what about if the intelligence wants to charge the car outside of this time slot? I expect that to drain my battery. So how can I prevent that from happening.
This must have been encountered buy several here?
I am too tempted to keep on the new Go and pay the additional 2p per unit for the priviledge just because if I drained the battery even once that would cost me more to recived than I could have potentially saved on IO
Your advice would be appreciated
