To save people taking plates off etc to reset the password. Why not have a WPS button on the outside to have it connect with any wifi set up. Its unrealistic to expect the older generation to be using screwdrivers and fiddling with reset buttons :-)
You should not need to push a reset button. You should have been told what the dongles own WiFi password was set to so you can connect to it and log in and change it. Your install should of locked it and left the new password detail. Often your account number.
WPS is not exactly secure.
