Switching SEG from E.ON to Octopus along with supply

Hi all,

We had our GivEnergy solar system installed last September through E.ON Solar. As part of the installation, they also put us on their SEG tarrif automatically.

Having done a little research, I'm planning on switching our supply (gas and electric) from E.ON Next to Octopus, who seem to have much better tariff options for Solar system owners.

However, I'd like to switch the SEG to Octopus at the same time in order to eventually take advantage of the Octopus Flux tariff when it's generally available.

So, I'm just wondering if anyone else has been through a similar process of switching supplier and SEG at the same time, and if so what was involved in addition to the standard supply switching process? Can it even be done in a single switch process, or is it treated as two separate processes? Do I need MSC & DNO info, or is it automated since SEG is already implemented?

I'll be giving Octopus a call this week, but would like to get some user experiences in addition to whatever info Octopus may give me before kicking off the process.

When I switched from British Gas I had to go onto their flexible tariff until they established connections to my meter and made sure they were getting half hourly readings. If you have a second generation smart meter it should be reasonably straight forward. Once that is done you should be able to switch to Flux. You will need to provide your MPAN number for your current export SEG tariff, and send copies of your MCS certificate and DNO letter. Doesn't seem to matter if you've been receiving SEG from someone else! If you ring them up and talk to them do it just after they open in the morning as queues are shorter then. Explain what you want. They will send you an email link with their SEG application form and you just attach your MCS certificate and DNO letter to that. When they switch you to Flux you get the import first and export follows about 24 hours later.
