I've noticed that every time my battery reaches 100% from solar charging, it starts to discharge to the grid at a relatively high rate. It continues to discharge until the SoC drops to about 90%. This happens even when there is plenty of solar available and the battery refuses to charges from the sun anymore.

I want the battery to maintain the 100% charge so that I can use it in the evening after the sun has set so this is not ideal. Any one have any ideas on why is discharges once it hits 100%?

I am fairly sure this is known and will be corrected in the new firmware which is on test right now.

So it's a known bug?

I've only just had solar and the battery installed about two weeks ago and frankly I'm getting really p***ed off with GivEnergy. The battery doesn't work as advertised, it's littered with bugs and issues that has made my experience with them incredibly sour (jumps to 100%, capacity locked away, the pause button not working in the app, and now this!). I'm really beginning to regret purchasing GivEnergy and I'm contemplating trying to get my money back and going with another brand.

I feel like I've been miss sold a product that doesn't even work! I'm so fed up!

GE kit is not perfect but fixes are indeed being worked on for the major issues you mention, and from my understanding, are not far off implementation. If you jump ship you may well find the grass is considerably browner on the other side of the fence - we do at least have a backup team and a permanent employee (Paul, TheDragon) liasing with us here.

What is it about your batteries that you feel isn't working "as advertised"? From reading these forums for a while, my feeling is that a large number of issues with new installations are actually down to the installers rather than the kit.

The issues that I listed seem to be all software based rather than hardware/installation related. I don't doubt that they are being worked on but forgive me for sounding pessimistic, some of these issues have been in the works for a long while and have yet to be rolled out (e.g. the sudden jump to 100% soc). It makes me wonder whether they are even fixable with a software update. If it's a hardware issue then it can never be fixed so what would be the solution then?

Like I said in my previous post, I've only had the system up and running for two weeks and I've already experienced so many issues and they're quite major ones too. It's absolutely appalling.

I believe all the things that I mentioned more than constitutes to the battery not working as intended/advertised:
1) The sudden jump to 100%, which almost everyone has experienced.
2) Some of the capacity not being available due to the above bug.
3) The pause button in the app is completely broken. It's crucial that I can pause the battery operation so that I can charge my car without it discharging. Obviously there are work arounds but it's not ideal.
4) And finally, the battery exporting to the grid once it reaches 100% SoC for no reason whatsoever, even though there's still plenty of solar. So in essence I can never have a battery at its full capacity ready to be used for when the sun goes down. This is a huge issue.

I appreciate that these things aren't easy to fix and there will be bugs for such a complex system but it boggles my mind how things can be in such a bad state, especially for a piece of kit that costs thousands of pounds.
