Dongle reset issue WO dongle

Changed my router and cannot get inverter dongle to communicate. Followed the givenergy instructions. When on device reset, the screen goes to rebooting but nothing happens. The dongle keeps flashing. Any help out there?

We’ve just had exactly the same issue.
After much reading around and messing around we found on the GivEnergy app in “Settings” a setting for “Setting up WiFi on a dongle”.
We used this to connect to the house WiFi (entered the password), turned off the battery (Green switch on battery), turned off the main isolator to the inverter and then turned them back on again.
After a couple of minutes flashing on dongle stopped and recording of data restarted.

I suspect this is a new setting as I can find no mention of it in the GE literature. As such I don’t know if it is Beta status however it seems to work fine.
The only oddity/improvement from this method is that it has set up the dongle WiFi as a secured network (rather than unsecured). As I didn’t enter a password for this network I don’t know what it is!! (If I need to enter the set up page my guess would be the inverter serial number.)

Unplug your dongle and wait a good 5 minutes.
Re insert your dongle
I would advise using a Phone or Tablet to connect to your dongle.
Go through the process and then you should be ok.

If your router uses a combined SSID for both 2.4ghz and 5ghz then it might be this that is causing you connection issues.

The dongle is 2.4ghz ONLY and routers using the same SSID on both 2.4 and 5ghz can cause this to enter and connection grey area and not work.

IF your experiencing this then you need to enter your router settings and setup a separate SSID for your 2.4ghz and 5ghz channel. (Alternatively you could install a dedicated cheap 2.4ghz router on your network and use a different SSID entirely).

If you have Android Phones/Tablets then you can use an application called WiFi Analyser.

Download this from Google Play Store and run it on your phone/tablet when your as close to your Dongle as possible.

This will list the SSIDs that are being broadcast and their relevant signal strengths. You can look at the 2.4 and 5ghz bandwidths individually.

Apple phones I believe are S.O.L. as Apple banned this type of application last I checked.
