I had an unscheduled battery recalibration the other day on BMS 3012. Rather annoying but nothing in the log of the inverter to say what was going on. You’ll know if it then charges back up to 100% after fully discharging.
It looks like it might have done an unscheduled recalibration. I slowed the discharge rate to around 100w overnight so we still ran off the batteries. I've re set it allowing it to discharge at its maximum rate. The panels are generating now and the battery is charging from the panels and the grid. I'm guessing it'll stop at 100% and run as normal. Thanks for the responses though.
It is very annoying when this happens as I spent a good 2 hours messing around with various settings with multiple restarts as I thought it was something I had done. If the inverter simply stated it was performing a recalibration in the inverter log on the portal I would have just left it alone.
Yes should get to 100% and run as normal. Out of interest are you on the new 3012 firmware? I had never had a unscheduled recalibration before on the old firmware.
I'm on the firmware my system came with last year (BMS is 3008) and had an unscheduled calibration a few weeks ago. I had changed the 'charge to 'overnight level a couple of times in the preceeding half hour (indecisive about how much sun there'd be the next day!) and at one point got an error message. Didn't notice until the following morning (because of the slow update on the web portal) but it started around that time. I half wondered if I'd triggered a secret sequence of changes by chance!
Interesting I was doing something similar playing around with octopus R&D when mine happened. Planning on getting to grips with Home assistant and GiveTCP in a few weeks so hopefully won’t have too many more of these!
2x AC3 inverters software D0.535-A0.535, 2x 9.5kWh batteries firmware 3012 updated 10/05/23 including reported successful calibration.
However on 22/05/23, one of the batteries started exporting to the grid at max kWh rate. Online portal restart would stop it but the battery would not charge (via grid or solar) and remained at idle but with circa 5W discharge. If in the App pause/play is carried out then that battery starts discharges at full kWh to the grid again.
Contacted GivEnergy and they put my system into debug mode to monitor. Contacting GivEnergy the following day, they told me that someone/something had started a calibration on that battery. It could not have been me as (as stated last firmware update 10/5/23 and reported as calibrated successfully) and GivEnergy confirmed that the end user can’t (inadvertently) independently initiate a calibration. Unfortunately, they don’t know who/what initiated the calibration cycle but will forward the details to the developer in the event of a software bug. GivEnergy remotely stopped the calibration cycle and normal service was resumed.
Today, I again, had the same symptoms, (idle, pause/play, max discharge, restart to stop) but after an hour sat at idle, the pause/play resumed normal battery discharge to the house.
@TheDragon (GivEnergy) I never had what appears to be unscheduled, random calibration cycles before firmware 3012.
Could be an installer or GE accidentally calibrating the wrong system, not sure how carefully they check - e.g. do they just enter an inverter serial number, or do they check say the postcode or customer name too?
Also could be a corruption in data transfer perhaps? I think the commands are two letter/digits (as read elsewhere on here), perhaps an intended command got misread as calibrate?
