Our battery is set to “solar and grid” with a force charge at the cheap period just before the peak period and then to discharge dynamically the rest of the time. It usually works fine.
Since yesterday it has been staying charged and doesn't discharge at all while on the usual settings. we can force it to discharge manually and that works but as soon as we put it back to normal mode it starts charging the battery from the grid no matter what the time even though it should be discharging as there is a demand from the house.
Can't figure it out. Is anyone else having this problem? It's costing us money instead of saving it!
I tried to restore to default the settings (with a view to starting from scratch) but it fails to do that.
Not sure what else to try.
Battery staying charged despite setting to discharge dynamically
Have a look at the "battery options" on the "settings" tab of the inverter card - and check that charge and discharge sliders are both at their maxima, and also that the reserve battery level is where it should be (on mine, I like that to be at 4%). Then ensure that all options other than "Eco" are disabled.
Thanks.
They are.
But today it happened again. Very strange.
After force discharging it yesterday evening and trying all sorts to get it to reset (including turning the inverter off and on again I think) and changing from “solar and grid” to just “solar” for charge settings and then back again, it started to behave normally again (ie. Wasn’t force charging itself from the grid!)… throughout the day it charged from PV as normal but since it reached 100% charge it has failed to discharge despite loads that should have made it discharge.
Since the sun went down our house was being powered entirely from the grid while the battery stayed full. I’ve fiddled again with the settings “solar and grid” to “solar” and back again and did a short force discharge then back to eco and now it seems to be discharging normally again - just to cover the load from the house.
I just can’t work out why it keeps doing this!
Looking back through the graphs, it behaves completely normally until 21st June. That’s the first day that it suddenly stops discharging. No idea what could have happened then!
Are you applying these setting via the app or web portal? The portal s much more reliable and applies the correct settings. I tried changing settings on the app a while back and it got confused while arguing with the portal settings. I changed them back to match the portal then haven't touched those bits in the app. All is fine since.
