What is the best configuration to leave a system in when away from the home for a few weeks?

I've got AC3 & 9.5kwh battery, plus 5kw SolarEdge inverter. I'm on Intelligent Octopus. I have a (low) export tariff.

Just least it on the default eco. No need to do anything with it really.

I went away back end of April until the beginning of June and it was left in eco mode and to its own devices. It seemed to cope just fine like that.

Depends on which definition of "best" you use. If it's financial, then assuming you also have solar, and will be importing nothing and exporting lots while you're away, could consider switching to another tariff, which will pay you more export ? Probably more hassle than it's worth. (Octopus limit switching between smart tariffs within 30 days.)

We are away for a bit in the summer and plan to just leave it as is. The static load on the house is so low that even the dullest of days covers the power needed. I will never get as low as the 20% charge setting so wont ever pull from the grid.
I could set it to discharge in the evening to dump the generated load but we are talking less than £3 profit total on our 4.1p/kw. Flux would make more but then we make better use of Go the rest of the year.

Settings:

  • Charge to 20% between 0030-0430
  • Eco rest of the time.
