Battery reserve vs cutoff limit

After far too long I finally upgraded my homesassistant and givtcp so I could access the GE controls and put some "intelligence" in. I wanted to always retain 10% in case of power cut so set the parameter for reserve. At the end of the day I checked the system and the SOC was sat at 4% so I'm very confused.

I have changed my automation to use the battery cut-off parameter instead but haven't reached 10% yet due to reduced demand in the house and (not complaining) lots of sun. I did search here for similar threads and there was not a simple definition for these controls.

@Givenergy - please, please can there be a simple guide clearly defining what each parameter (all of them not just these two) means and examples of typical use? As with everything else I can no doubt finagle it by changing stuff but it would be preferable not to have to.

Checked just now and the battery was sat at 10% as configured so now I know it's the cut-off control which actually works. Would still like to understand the difference.

Battery reserve is the one that predbat uses to hold the battery at a certain level when discharging in Eco mode or forced exporting and is the one I’d expect to use.

My battery reserve is 4% and hasn’t changed for ages.
