We've just had a GivEnergy AC 3.0 with 9.5kWh battery installed. When charging from the grid it only seems to charge the battery at 1kW. I was expecting a 3kW charge rate as stated in the AC 3.0 specs. My plan was to charge to 100% on cheap electricity overnight in the depths of winter, but charging at 1kW if the battery is low, we don't have enough time.
Should it be charging at 3kW or is there a limit somewhere that I was unaware of?
Yes the inverter settings have a charge current limit and I can set it on my system via the app. My battery has a power limit of about 2.8kW. Best to set it as low as possible to get the job done to keep the battery cooler and probably make it last longer.
My app is set to charge at 3kW. Does it do anything clever, like charge more slowly if it knows it has plenty of time to reach the set limit?
No I don't think so but mine is limited to 1.8kW when it has less that 20% charge and ramps down dramatically when it gets to 95%. Also if it gets to more than 28°C it seems to drop to 433W.
It was charging at 3kW last night, so I guess it was an anomaly that was restricting it.
