Zappi Car charger draining battery, not using grid?

Hi all,

Have a neighbour who's recently also got a Zappi Car Charger and Givenergy Inverter/Batteries.

He's just moved to Octopus Go, so is wanting to cheap charge both his car and his batteries during the off-peak period (ie so ideal scenario is by 4:30am he's got 100% battery and fully charged car).

What instead appears to be happening is his battery is charging, but then it's discharging as it's being used to charge the car (ie the battery is charging the car, not the grid directly).

This is different to my set up, where it just directly charges.

Can anyone help with any pointers on how to configure it to work correctly? I've briefly checked his app settings and they appear to be the same as mine?!

Sounds like he has some sort of automation turned on that charges his house battery to 100% then reverts to eco straight away. Or, the car is taking longer than expected to charge (or also automated) and is overlapping beyond the end of the cheap period and then chewing into the battery.
I recommend setting the house battery to charge for as long as possible within the cheap period and also timing the car battery to do the same. This way the house battery will not discharge during the charge time (even if full) and the car has the best possible chance to charge.

We've just bought a PHEV (collecing on Sunday) so I've been looking at EV chargers to be elligible for Intelligent Go. 7.5p/kwh import and the ability to export from solar at 15p/kwh is a great deal.

If it wasn't installed properly the hybrid inverter will see the car charging load as house load and discharge the battery in to it.
