Battery calibration question

What is the difference between a battery calibration initiated by Ge support, and just discharging/recharging via app or portal commands yourself?

There should not be any, but the process has to be "complete": discharge to empty, then charge to full 100% SOC.

The difference is a calibration aims to find and set the real 0% and 100% based on voltages.

Then after the calibration, it uses what it knows to charge up to the user 100% and down to the user 4% values.

E.g. it leaves a buffer at either end to protect the battery.

Indeed, the Ge-initiated c;libration run on my batteries just completed (after a firmware update) and it did discharge more deeply and charge to a higher level than I see in normal use. i.e. a lower voltage at 0% and higher at 100% than "normal".
