AIO discharging battery when paused

Hi,

I’ve had an 13.5KWh AIO installed for about a week to complement an existing 3.75KW solar array. I’m learning how to control the systems.

Last night I thought the battery was paused from discharging; I was charging my PHEV (13 amp socket) so wanted to charge of the grid. The inverter log appears to show the discharge value set to 0 at 19:30.

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Annoyingly, the AIO looks to the Pause Battery Start Time and Pause Battery End Time fields, as well as the value of Pause Battery. (These are on the remote control section of the dashboard.)

I have mine set to 00:00 and 23:59 respectively, so that Pause Battery does what I expect it to. Most of the time.

PianSom I made the same misinterpretation... In fact, the quick-settings pause button the app doesn't use the timed-pause feature. Instead it sets charge and discharge power to 0. A different "feature" of recent models is that power of 0 doesn't actually reduce power to 0: on my system, it"s about 300W

(But the timed pause does fully pause charging or discharging.)

Ah, apologies for the misinformation

Blue_Barchetta if your tariff offers cheap overnight power, you might want to automatically inhibit discharge overnight. The timed-pause mentioned is available through the remote-control part of the portal. It's not currently available through the "friendlier" settings mechanisms.

Many of us choose to charge the battery from grid during a cheap rate, which will also inhibit discharge (even after charging target has been reached.)

Oh .. and welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone.

DD, yes I'm on Octopus Agile (import only) so generally the tariff overnight should be cheap and I certainly don't want to generally charge the PHEV of the battery when I can do it directly overnight.

I guess the question I still have is, with the Battery discharge value set to zero at 19:30, should there have been any supply from the AIO to the house/grid?

Blue_Barchetta no, I wouldn't have thought so. One observation is both app and your external agent are changing this setting. The portal only seems to actually send values when it thinks they are different from the live value. If the portal somehow has a stale value, it can get out of sync. Perhaps if there was a network outage when it tried to send an update? Though I would hope it would log the change only if it successfully sent it.

Ah... pause discharge on the app has to store the old setting somewhere, so that it can restore it when you unpause. If it were to change in the meantime (by MyEO, for example), maybe that confuses it?

(I don't bother with the quick settings button, and have it hidden. I'd just adjust charge/discharge power directly if I wanted to change them.)

Thanks, will try that.
