Hey All,

My parents have just had the AIO installed, working well but as of yet we haven't switched to Agile as I just wanted them to get used to when to use appliances etc.

We're now at the point where we need to maximise the system, Agile will work for them as they won't use the 13.5kW in the peak time, I considered Flux or Intelligent Flux but it probably won't bring them the same benefit yet.

I am using HA with Predbat, its working well for my GE system, do I build them a little HA server for the AIO or just let the GivEnergy Smart manage the system with Agile?

matttheotter Arguably they shouldn't really need to worry too much about when to use appliances - the big battery/high discharge power means time-of-consumption is quite well separated from time-of-import.

If you are already familiar with Predbat, I'd have thought that would be the obvious way to go ? One other option you haven't mentioned is wonderwatt. I don't recall much discussion about GivEnergy's own smart management. [I have used none of the systems mentioned, so can't make any recommendations.]

DD I forgot about WonderWatt!

Predbat is my preference but that means me supporting it long term for them 😃

What exactly is the setup as AIO on its own doesnt gravitate towards Agile being the best fit.

For a non-expert user I’d suggest wonderwatt as well. The only downside is that being cloud based there’s a risk that comms issues might occur, but this is probably less support demand from you than installing and maintaining a HA instance running predbat.

If they want to do other home automation/monitoring as well then HA could be better.

To optimise Agile use you need some control system beyond manually selecting slots charge and discharge slots. The GE dashboard is purely manual control.

I am using Predbat and it is working well. You will be able to manage it remotely - it generally looks after itself and would only need the occasion intervention following occasional issues. Even with Wonderwatt I'm assuming this will require some occasional overseeing.

Looking at the system you're likely to be a decent exporter - another driver for an automated system.

Ivan WonderWatt is online so I can remotely checkin for my parents, I don't want to config another HASS lol.

It would be better with predbat but WonderWatt would do fine.

matttheotter if they link their Octopus details to the portal there are some automations from GE that can work with Agile, so you might want to check those out. It's internet dependent but before I moved to Predbat it worked for me

Cdent Aye that is what I considered, I think WonderWatt is working like Predbat moving forward, reviewing half hourly slots and having an threshold for plunge charging.

This would give them some of the benefits of predbat that I have enjoyed 😃

matttheotter is that split across East and West or something like that?

Seems quite a lot of panels for a 4.2 kW inverter?

TX200 would you believe they are split on 3 sides due to the way they face, they have some micro-inverters to deal with shading.

I have 16 on mine via East to West (5kW inverter) which was way easier to sort out in Predbat.

I could put some on my north facing roof, but doesn’t seem worth the effort 😄

Guess shouldn’t be too much clipping with split roof, as the sun moves around, it hits different panels

TX200 my best day so far since my install in Jan has been 14.1kWh generated.

matttheotter my best so far this year is 11.5 kWh (half as many panels), but you’ll defo beat me on sunny summer days 😄

TX200 I am slightly boned atm by my positioning, I miss a lot of morning sun atm due to being on a slope.

I have an East/West roof with panels on both sides. My best so far this month was 24th February, 31.3kWh

The best in January was just over half that, 26th Jan, 16.3kWh.

Quite a difference

geoffreycoan my east facing array is screwed by the slope so it doesn’t get peak early, in the lighter months it will be significantly better for me but most days I am lucky enough to be able to be self sufficient.

matttheotter Fortunately my roof is quite unobstructed, only 1 string of 6 panels on the garage roof gets shaded by the neighbours house in winter, but I’m nowhere near self sufficient yet, but our heating is electric (ASHP). During the day we’re starting to get self-sufficient if it’s sunny there’s enough to run the heat pump.

Roll on summer!
