Unexpected grid usage

Hi all,

My battery + solar is working well now I've managed to get the settings how I want them (basically ECO, I decided the Agile integration wasn't worth the hassle with the high rates) but I've noticed occasionally that despite a battery at 100% and solar contributing well we still end up importing a small amount of energy even when there isn't anything major pulling e.g. a kettle + washing machine simultaneously that would go over the output limit of the battery storage. It's relatively inconsequential but I'd rather the battery was providing the energy instead of the grid!

today for example so far:

Solar To Home 6.82 kWh
Grid To Home 0.85 kWh
Battery To Home 5.08 kWh

A small amount is normal. Looking at my smart meter data the house typically pulls between 0.01 and 0.02 every half an hour when there is no excess load.

I figure it's normal but just wondering if it's something I can tweak out of the system?

Its due to the reaction time of the invertor to a change in load/solar. A small amount of export/import is to be expected as it balances the grid voltage to be slightly higher than the real grid, so you use your own power and not the grid, vice versa. If its higher, you export, lower you import.

I saw a facebook post that the reaction time was being addressed in a firmware update. But then I may have readit wrong, and its the Gen 2 Invertors that are much faster to react

From what I have been told the ramp up and ramp down performance of the inverter is due to regulations on the power network. Tesla Powerwall gets round this due to having an extra device between the grid and the inverter. But most grid attached inverters have a ramp up ramp down speed. Some systems are slightly faster than others however, but sub 1kw is pretty normal

My 'best' days are showing around 100-500wh usage, sadly that's now a couple of kWh export to cover 500wh on peak use!

I wonder if it is possible to set a constant export of around 200w to meet smaller fluctuations, when solar generating on days when you are guaranteed to charge just to reduce this slightly. Larger loads would obviously still pull from grid.
