Battery in idle after timed discharge

We have recently got an EV charger and try to 'protect' the charge in the pv battery by putting it into a timed discharge several hours from the setting. That stops the battery losing its charge but when we remove the timed discharge the battery does not return to normal generation or discharge without me resetting it to factory settings. We do not as yet have a Smart meter but will hopefully have one installed in a few days. I was wondering is there something we are doing wrong ? The battery is an 8.2Kw with inverter fitted in 2022.

If you need more information to advise further please let me know.

Thanks in advance

what kit doe you have?
I think it is a known issue that Eco does not cut back in (on my Gen 1 Hy5.0 it does not so I have to use Home Assistant).
You could try the scheduler in Octopus R&D labs webpage or Wonderwatt
