I would like a perm display in the house and wondered if anyone knows if the app works on a Kindle Fire tablet? Only looking to use a Fire Tablet as they are cheap at the moment and a known brand. Don't really want the Web App as the updates are to slow compared with the 10 second updates in the mobile app.
Yes it works on mine. I bought a Fire and followed a guide on the web to "unlock" it from Amazon. Sorry I can't find what I did, but it has been fine for at least 2 years.

The GE App isn't on the Amazon app store so Amazon say no. But, if you can get the APK from GivEnergy you can try to sideload it and see if it runs ok. OR, you can sideload Google Play Store then try to install the GE app from there. OR the best way is to run a web browser on the Fire and use the GE web portal. You can download APKs (and side load them) from 3rd party browser providers. I use the Opera browser on my Kindle Fire HDs.
Note, while you can sideload Google Play Store onto a Kindle Fire HD, Amazon don't guarantee it will work (or keep working) and it is a bit of a resource hog. Also apps download from the Google Play Store to the Fire HD are not guaranteed to run OK on the Fire.
You might want to look at the 3rd party inverter monitor app for a display tool. It isn't on the Amazon app store but the person that wrote it is on this forum and might let you try and sideload the APK.
Another option for a permanent display is to use an old android phone (should cheaper than a kindle). I use an old Samsung Galaxy S4 to do just that. It connects to the inverters wifi dongle and juns runs in home mode...
I used the Liliputing guidance (see above), plus https://www.howtogeek.com/232726/how-to-install-the-google-play-store-on-your-amazon-fire-tablet/ to install the app on a Fire tablet and it works fine. It does time out however, so you need to swipe it every so often to see the display, but it's a decent solution.
