Export Meter readings

I've finally gotten round to looking at getting paid for the energy that I export.
However what I can't work out is where I can get the figure to report to the energy supplier.
So when I'm instructed to read the meter, where am I looking?
The bumf I had from the installation shows a generation meter, but this has a series of figures, on constant loop, none of which look to be what I want.

Thanks for your help

Do you have a Smart meter. I think most if not all will require you to have one in order to get an export agreement (SEG).

If you do one of the displays/registers is the total amount exported in kWh.

I would also add, if you are with Octopus, they get your export readings directly from the DCC - others (EON for example) require a photo of the export meter and as @killythebid says, your smart meter will have this information

While one smartmeter is physically able to record both import and export, for some reason it seems to be necessary to set up a separate "logical" meter ("MPAN") for export. On my Octopus account page, for example, I have a box for import and export: both list the same serial number starting 19K, but each has a separate 13-digit number shown in the top right. They're also shown on my bills.

I think this gets allocated by DNO ? Your solar installer might have requested one when doing the G98/G99 paperwork.

Thanks for the replies. I will go and have a fiddle with the smart meter and see if I can find the appropriate values.

Have you applied for an MPAN with your supplier if it is a new install? If it is a very old FIT install then you may not have or need one and might be on deemed export.

You won't get paid for any energy exported until you have applied for an MPAN if you have a recent install and are using Smart Export Guarantee.

You will normally need to send your supplier your MCS certificate and your G98 or G99 consent letter from your DNO (local electricity distributor).

Once you have applied to your supplier for an export tariff they will normally be able to read your smart meter automatically and credit you for your export without you having to take action.

It seems like you already have a Smart Meter but for the benefit of other users, if you don't yet have a smart meter installed you will need to request that one is fitted in order to benefit from a Smart Guarantee Tariff. https://energysavingtrust.org.uk/advice/smart-export-guarantee/

The details of how you can find export readings will vary between different models of Smart Meter and you may want to check the help pages of the supplier who fitted the meter if you want to monitor the readings yourself. Octopus as an example have step by step instructions for a range of meters.
