Shame. I already have 2 x 9.5's & no more space for any extra batteries.
As an aside, I recently got a budget quote (based on info & photos I supplied) for a replacement 8kW Sigenergy inverter stack system with a Gateway & 26kWh of storage. Gulp!! OTT price imo so I think I'll be keeping my GE system for a while longer & work around it's limitations.
CGoode Sigenergy look to have some great kit, and installers love them as they are easy to install, but they are not cheap.
Some people on here have suggested dumping their GivEnergy kit for Sigenergy, but financially it’d be a massive step to make, with any kind of payback underpinned by assumptions on what happens to import and export rates long term. I think its likely import rates will continue to go up but export rates, particularly during the day, will go down.
And I’d be concerned that you’d just be swapping from one closed inverter/battery ecosystem (GivEnergy) to another (Sigenergy). You’re wholly reliant on the ongoing support of that manufacturer, and who knows what will happen over the next 5 years or so.
Pity I would have quite liked an extra 9.5 battery even though fitting it in to my already full garage would be a challenge!
geoffreycoan Yep I agree. It's not a really a cost effective change to make albeit I would be gaining whole house backup with a Gateway, safer battery tech, better App & a much more space efficient install in my also full to bursting single garage.
I might get a few more quotes from other installers as a double check as the one I got from a well known YT electrician did seem very "high end". TBF to them it was only a ballpark price based on pics & info I provided for budgeting purposes with no site visit so they probably over egged it a bit to be on the safe side. That said, it's still a chunk of change to find on top of the original investment.
I'm still quite annoyed that GE cannot offer a larger inverter that can re-use / incorporate my existing Gen 2 batteries which would & save a considerable amount of money. This is the only reason I'm looking elsewhere for a solution.
