Servicing

My system, including two GivEnergy batteries, was installed in April 2023 by a local company in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex called The Skill Group and they contacted me after one year to carry out the first annual service.
Having not heard from them in year 2, I tried contacting them and it appears that they have ceased trading.
So, I have two questions:
1) Is an annual service necessary - I have updated the inverter and battery firmware myself and the system appears to be working well.
2) Can you let me know of a company/companies local to me that deals with GivEnergy and who could help me with any servicing or maintenance requirements?

Annual clean of the panels done by a suitably equipped window cleaner is all most people do AFAIK.
I don't really know what a service would involve beyond checking the cable connections.

That first year service was the most useful to verify everything was still working as well as when installed. But now everything has bedded in there is very little that needs to be done. The batteries naturally degrade a bit with use but only by a few percentages each year. They shouldn't be below 80% of 'new' capacity even after 10 years. The panels pick up grime but unless heavy deposits are on them (bird muck, thick dust or moss/algae) it doesn't seem to affect the amount you generate again dropping by perhaps just a few % each year. Mine are the same age as yours and apart from sorting out birds nesting underneath have been fault free and performing well even without any servicing. I had a couple of small problems with the inverter/batteries but nothing I couldn't fix with advice from others.

Just give them a visual inspection (panels with binoculars, inverter, batteries and wires) and report back anything that doesn't look quite right. There's a lot of expertise here on the forum who can help you with any anxieties you might have about your system.

I wouldn’t even bother with having the panels cleaned unless yours are mounted on a particularly shallow angle or with trees or a TV aerial where birds can perch above the panels.

When I had scaffolding up to install my GivEnergy inverters in January 2023, I took the opportunity to inspect the panels and clean them with a jet wash (on low power setting). The panels had never been cleaned in the preceding 7 years and as you can see generation goes up and down year on year, but no noticeable pattern of degradation due to dirt, or even as far as I can see, panel aging.
There was a few small bits of lichen on the corners of some of the panels but to be honest they looked in very good clean condition; wind and rain had done a perfectly good job of keeping the panels clean. I spent more time jet washing all the lichen off the roof tiles. Being a rougher surface maybe that’s why it stuck to the tiles not the panels.
