Dear Community, I wrote a month ago about adding a 3rd battery to my set-up. Hybrid Gen 3 Inverter with two Gen 1 5.2kWh batteries (both fitted Oct 2024). I found a local installer (eventually - since my original one and several I contacted no longer deal with GivEnergy - or want to do so...poor customer service and other issues) who had the relevant cables and a new Gen 3 5.4kWh battery. Fitted a week ago. New installer contacted GivEnergy and took over my system so he could commission the new set up. I downloaded the new relevant battery firmware (3022 for Gen1 and 4010 for Gen 3) and transferred them to the batteries; no problem. The Gen 3 battery became the Master and the others Slave 1 and Slave 2 - as advised on this site! Over a couple of days the inverter kept going offline (due to a new router I had installed for greater bandwidth but clearly had issues on 2.4GHz reaching the dongle. So the installer hardwired the inverter and no problems..but a day later the main battery isolator kept tripping. The Installer checked cables and comms - all good. Then initiated a full SOC battery calibration - discharge then charge; This used to be automatic but now has to be done by the installer manually...waiting until full discharge and then full charge. Apparently this was removed by GivEnergy at some time - so now is all manual. So far three days later and all is well. Just to let this community know.

Thanks for the update. Be interesting to hear how you get on with the three batteries tracking SoC together, whether they drift apart or not, and how much of your total system capacity you are getting as a result.

Very strange behaviour of the system. I hope you have more luck than me with 3 batteries. It's impossible to get mine to stay at similar SOC during the winter. I've taken to doing daily charges to 100%, but by the middle of the night the third battery is at 0% (despite min being set at 4%) and the other 2 vary anywhere from 10% to 30%. I've given up doing recalibrations and just learned to accept that around 25% of batteries 1 and 2 is wasted because 3 gets low first. (Except when it doesn't and the above still happens but with a different battery hitting 0 first)
Thanks Dabz - The new Gen 3 battery tends to charge faster more than the Gen 1 batteries but when full there is only it is 100% and the other 3-4% difference....when batteries lower charge (+/- 30-40%) the older Gen 1 tend to be 6-7% different and lower than the Gen 3 (i.e. tend to discharge more). I feel these values are fine - and certainly not like your 0%!.
I also monitor with Rubikcube's Android Inverter Monitor app - you can see it on this community.
This shows individual cells and performance - have you checked them to see if there are a preponderance of "poor" cells?
Dabz - another thought are the latest versions of the battery firmware installed on your system?
