The local first, Apple centric Homebridge plugin now comes with Automation:

Tonight, assuming your battery is still reasonably full around 19:30, you should expect behaviour roughly like this:

  • GivHome detects:
    • Excess Energy Export enabled
    • outside cheap window
    • current time >= configured evening start
    • battery SOC above reserve + margin
  • It then:
    • calculates available export energy
    • creates a temporary export slot
    • enables discharge/export locally via REST
    • allows the inverter to sell/export excess battery energy
  • As SOC falls:
    • GivHome continually re-evaluates
    • once reserve threshold is reached, export stops automatically
    • ECO mode is restored
  • At 23:30 cheap rate:
    • normal overnight charging automation resumes
    • battery refills cheaply again
The important difference is that the automation is now:
  • adaptive
  • self-limiting
  • battery-SoC-aware
  • fully local
  • and not dependent on multiple timers
