Is to have a power brownout....

Basically at about 8am today our grid voltage dropped to between 130-180V.

Once I'd worked out what was going on* I powered down the system. I'd been having problems with keeping SoC accurate for weeks (as most of you will) and was somewhat surprised that when mains power was restored that the battery charged nicely all the way to 97% (BMS reading).

Obviously the BMS is powered up even when the battery is off but it hadn't occurred to me that this would be the ideal "balancing cells" time as the battery is truely idle.

YMMV.

  • first time I've seen a brownout since incandescent lighting days. Interesting to see what works at 130-180V - eg one oven clock worked, one above didn't, same brand, same sort of datecode. LED plug-in bulbs largely didn't work, integrated-LED fixtures all worked. Alarm didn't detect a mains failure etc.

What GE equipment do you have? Gateway is rated at 180V minimum, to my understanding it should turn off grid supply if voltage it insufficient. Just like any desktop UPS does. Do you have Gateway, or any previous generation inverter with EPS function?
