Inverter can't see 4G wifi hub

Due to awful broadband I've now moved to a 4G wifi hub, which is blinking fantastic!!!!

But..... My inverter refuses to find it, I've changed routers a few times on the past without any issues, but this time the inverter won't find it and even entering the information manually makes no difference.

Anyone out there with any thoughts?

Iguana Have you configured one of the new router's wifi ssids with the same name and password as you had on your last router ? And try turning off any 5G wifi channels until you get connected.

Iguana Just out of interest whose 4G have you gone with and did they supply the mobile router? I have had issues connecting to a Three mobile router made by Huawei. I think they have a limit of 10 devices so I now use a Linksys router connected to the Huawei box.

What wifi channel is your 4G router using? Is it 2.4GHz and 5GHz wifi with the same SSID? Is it 2.4GHz on channel 12 or 13? Is your GE dongle the one that only does 2.4GHz wifi channels 1 to 11?

Try turning the 4G radio off & see if the dongle connects then.

Unfortunately there can be interference between radios (4G & wifi) on 2.4GHz. In theory it shouldn't happen; in practice the radios/antennae are so close its inevitable the noise floor will rise. The answer is to turn wifi on the 4G router off & use a (physically) separate wifi router/access point, ideally a few feet away.

I have a 5G backup (external) router & if I turn on the in-built wifi then I can see the signal quality of the 5G (NSA) connection drop. Same if I drop the cell connection - the wifi signal quality improves as soon as the cell radio is off.

Even if this isn't the answer for the inverter its worth trying out as you may be surprised at the cell radio results - eg I'm connected to the cell at East Mids Airport service station, which is about 5km away. I got decent rates (500/100Mbps down/up) until Vodafone bought Three. Now I get 100/25Mbps all the time. Not a surprise TBH.

Hi all, sorted!!!!

Finally got round to it and for some weird reason it was so easy to get to work, even though I tried all of this before and it didn't work!

So used the laptop to connect to the dongle went to STA interface setting and simply typed in the SSID for the new 4G router, left the security mode and encryption as is, then manually entered the password.

Then moved to device management and carried out a reboot. This is where it always failed recently, but this time it all worked perfectly and I'm now back online 👍

@Windy Miller I was with EE for broadband and mobile, but Broadband was barely over 5mb speeds and would continuously drop. So have now moved to EE 4g and was sent a little router with SIM, took a while to work out best house location, but now averaging 40mb speeds
