Has anybody had calls about getting your systems serviced and under guarantee? Was offered a free check of the system but think it was only a way to get through the door. As was told that to look after the system would cost £5000 which we did not take up. Some calls a bit of scare mongering reacting shocked that the system we have has never been service?

Trying it on I think. There are no moving parts that wear out and any qualified electrician can check it electrically to make sure all the connections are in good order. Mine is 3.5 years old and other than an inspection* the only thing I've had to do is tighten the terminals a couple of times (the forum has details on this). I updated the firmware a couple of years ago. £5000 is a bit steep for 20 minutes work every few years unless you value peace of mind (and wouldn't worry that £5000 could have been better spent).
The systems won't catch fire; fusing is included to make this a negligible risk and the battery chemistry won't sustain a fire. But as mentioned book an electrician for complete peace of mind. They could do a check of your house wiring at the same time which is recommended every 10 years. Google EICR for more information.
