Having had solar fitted earlier in the year, it was only yesterday i finally got my batteries!!
I have been going around in circles with the Eco/charge/discharge/export.
I am puzzled what takes preference, Eco mode/charge/discharge/export.
Originally i had a Eco on, as also times set for charge (cheap rate) and discharge (daytime high rates), but it appeared to not be charging my battery, so i switched Eco off, and when i checked settings after about 10 minutes, i was exporting to the grid despite a 75% full battery and solar power!! I re checked settings and export had turned on itself and discharge was turned off. I am somewhat puzzled whats going on and what takes precedent.

So i changed again, currently, Eco is on as is timed charge, and timed discharge and export are off. The graphs now show i am charging battery with excess solar and it now looks right.

So why are these settings conflicting?
Also, the app doesn't have the same Eco setting option (that i can see) so should i be using the app or online portal?

I think the main point is "forget about the app" if you want to edit mode settings. Only do that online, in the portal.

The rest is:

  • ECO is always on;
  • set whatever timers you need for your battery charge/discharge to manage it.

pgbish Using the portal, reset to defaults, and leave it alone. The settings are only useful if you have time of use tariffs from your energy providers.

Rubikcube Yes, but if you have an EV, you can also set timer when you want to charge the EV, but not discharge the home battery. TOU is not a must, there are other uses of timers.

Otherwise, good point about the defaults.

Thanks, I did a reset, and then set my charge time up for the cheap rate overnight.
Currently this seems to be working and the battery is currently under charge from the solar.
I have used the portal, but did check the app after and it appears to follow what is set in the portal.
Just need to check in the morning if the charging works overnight!!

The app works much better than the older versions. Still requires resetting the values to defaults occasionally if you push them too much
