I have Gen1 5kw inverter and 8.2 kwh battery installed.
Installation company promised (and I have this on the offer via email and text message) 10 years inverter and battery warranty but on the portal I have just 5. Where I should complain now? I have sent few emails to givenergy - no answer, I have sent few emails to installation company - no answer
Warranty 5 or 10 years
Installer, they would need to buy the warranty extension from GE.
dersonik You'll have 10 years on your battery as that is standard, 5 year extension to the inverter is £240inc
You can buy this yourself but obviously you've been promised it already in your complete price so ideally the installer would cough it up
Email the installer and they can sort it, it may take a short while to get givenergy to update their system
I bought an Inverter warranty extension and it took ages for it to show up on the Portal.
My advice is:
to ensue that it listed on your paid receipt from the installer.
Contact the installer and check that Givenergy has been paid for it.
Contact Givenergy and ask if they have been paid for it.
There is no paperwork asssociated with it which in my opinion is unsatisfactory.
Good luck.
They haver 60 days from date on commissioning to register the warranty.
I'm going to assume you used an MCS certified company so you could try contacting them.
Was the company registered with any of the other trade bodies that would give you some leverage?
Did you pay for any of the installation via Credit Card.
If you did you have purchase protection from the CC Company you could try claiming the cost of the inverter back from the CC Company until such time they have sorted the issue.
Failing that, and sort of last case scenario, you could start a claim with the Small Claims Court for breach of contract. If they are outside of the 60 days then you will not be able to retroactively obtain the warranty which means that your potential loss is the entire cost of a new Inverter
