please reassure me that the energy supplier/grid only starts to take out of my battery when it is full, they are not taking it as they please !?!
exported energy
They have no say in how or when your battery discharges to the grid. It's entirely in your control. Those owners that have a decent SEG or are on one of the more creative tariffs, such as Agile, configure the inverter to dump to the grid when the price is right (e.g. high). I myself manage my system so that I have very little surplus so I still get the FIT deemed export rate for 50% of my solar generation. Therefore, my system is set up never to export to the grid from the battery.
hellosunshine If you have a smart tariff with Octopus and have agreed for them to automatically control your installation, then they will charge up the battery and discharge it when the price is beneficial to you.
If you want to have control over your system, disable any automations with energy suppliers (you may have to do this in their portal), set the inverter to ECO in the Givenergy portal and you will be fine. If you didn't sign up to energy supplier automations, then you should already have full control of your system although it does go through a battery discharge and charge as part of the post-commissioning calibration.
