Hi all, E.on installed my solar system (16 panels + Solis inverter + Givenergy AC3.0 Inverter + 8.2kWh Giv battery) on July 29th, 2022.
The next day, the commissioner did his best, but was unable to connect Givenergy inverter to the battery. He said that Givenergy inverter had a communication error and needed to be replaced. So, the brand-new inverter which needs to be replaced out of the box. I was frustrated. 🙁
Then I was even more frustrated, because I was waiting for a replacement for 1.5 months. It was installed on September 15th, 2022.
Yesterday, 24th Oct 2022, the battery made a beep and turned itself off. I tried restarting it and it did the same thing.
I flipped down the battery breaker and the battery restarted normally and stayed on. I made a video clip and contacted the Givenergy support via their live chat.
So, technical support said that most likely the inverter is faulty. SERIOUSLY. AGAIN!!!
I have no idea how long I will be waiting for a Givenergy engineer this time...
Am I the only "lucky" user here? Or is it a common reliability issue with all products from Givenergy? I hope not.
Please share your experience of using Givenergy equipment. Thanks. Vitali
Reliability of the Givenergy AC3.0 Inverter
My inverter also didn't work out of the box. Took about 2 weeks for GE to come and replace it. Everything worked fine with one ac3.0 and an 8.2 battery until I added a further ac3.0 and a 9.5 battery, so I am now a plant. I have voltage drops, though not as bad as some folk, and the data rarely makes sense. My electric bill is telling me that all is working well in the background.

Not skipped a beat my AC3 and 3 batteries.
Gets hammered day and night
Waiting for an engineer to come out to my Gen 2 3.6 hybrid and 8.2 battery. It has been installed for less than 3 months and now has the clicking battery of death where the battery switches itself off when trying to connect to inverter through isolator. Not impressed. GE appear to know what the issue is but are not forthcoming on details.

Had my AC3 and 8.2 battery installed July 2021. Inverter has been fine, I am on my second 8.2 already however. Plus just had a 9.5 added Monday (the calibration of 17.7kw of battery on a single AC3 was long to say the least). I know there are issues when you run more than 1 AC3 inverter so I am waiting for Giv Energies EMS unit to fix multiple inverters then I will add a second.
Basically for the price, so far so good on the kit.

We have 3 of the AC3s here but not connected to the same systems. They all have been fine. Honestly the only real issue we've had at all was a DC breaker that kept tripping and was eventually replaced (not before it had been off for like 7 weeks in total because you get no alert that it's tripped) and another DC breaker that did it once, was poked by the installer and has been fine since.
I had mine installed roughly the same time, 5kw solar edge installed aswell.
Not had anything i would be too worried about but i'm happy that I have a 10 year warranty and have the AC coupled just incase of a failure.
THALL I have a 'plant' system so am also waiting for this magical EMS unit that is supposedly going to fix all the issues. I'll forego the chance to whine in full here about the fact they shouldn't have been selling a plant setup knowing it wouldn't work properly, but do you have inkling of when it is expected? The GE techs who come here from time to time and sprinkle their knowledge never seem to answer any follow-up questions. This is probably related to the fact that @GeorgeRawding "hates" this forum. ;-)
TheDragon (GivEnergy) Same here - two AC3.0 that have worked perfectly with a 5.2 battery each for almost a year now.

JJB About a month ago I was told around the end of this year. But this week I was told they don't know, early next year maybe. But it would be nice if they halted new products like smart plugs while they fixed old kit and issues. But I have really liked my system over all, so hopefully this EMS will appear soon and I can book my installer in to add the second AC3 and grid isolator.
My AC3 has required a couple of reboots for software glitches ,apart from that it has been fine.
Yesterday, 1st-Nov-2022, A Givenergy engineer came and fixed the problem. It was bad battery board in the inverter.
7 days is actually very good response time from the report to the fix. 😄
