We're happy to see customers using the smart tariff card to gauge interaction with the Octopus tariffs and our product. We'd like to expand work integrating with other electricity suppliers but we want to ask if digital tariff data is available to our customers via APIs. We hope that your help will give us the knowledge to continue this integration with other suppliers in the future.
That might be helpful. I notet that Octopus won't make their Go or Go faster tariffs available to custmers who have battery storage but don't have an EV.
kwmc I've seen on another forum (I think it was the FB group 'solar and battery UK') that Octopus have allowed some people to sign up for Go/Faster with only a house battery (no EV). Have they changed that stance? (That would be very disappointing as I don't have an EV)
andrew_bond Until recently (last 4 or 5 months) Octopus did not ask but with the energy situation they do. I do not have my EV yet but I was already on Agile and I was able to switch without issue. They asked me which EV I have and duly told them which one I have on order. They did try pushing me to Intelligent Octopus however, but until they add more chargers to the supported list that is no good for me.
Mickey (GivEnergy) OVO have an API. Not sure what you can get from it as i'm not with them.

You presumably already have an relationship with E.on as part of the hardware side.

Edit 2: Intelligent Octopus Integration would be nice also. i.e. plug the car in and auto schedule house to charge if outside the normal 11:30 - 05:30 windows.
Having just got my PV/Battery installed I'm keen to get on the right tariff - I'm with Octopus.
I don't think I'll export a lot - so the logical one for me is the Go tariff - but not sure I can get it now.
So if not that one, which one/supplier is the best one to go for?
anglefire I think you can still get Go - assuming you have an EV car. The day rate will be high - but then if you can timeshift the overnight charge on 5p probably not too bad. It depends how much you use during the day currently and thus how quickly the battery discharges and you're back on expensive day rate. .
No, I don't have an EV. And no plans for one at the moment as it doesn't work for me for too much of the time - especially given the upfront cost of them!
I thought there was a plan where you had a normal tariff in the day and then was 5p/kWh for 4 hours at night? But perhaps that has disappeared now 🙁
anglefire That's the Go tariff, but I believe Octopus have tightened up on the criteria for Go and Go Faster, and you apparently do need an EV at the moment - they will probably want to see a V5 or lease agreement. They're probably more focussed on taking on all their new customers at the moment, but I think it's likely at some point they will bring out a tariff aimed at people like us (with battery but no EV - I'm hoping some time in the new year). Economy 7 type tariffs might be another option.
I did think about Economy 7 - but I don't think it will be worth it long term - its currently:

But its flexible - so when the price goes through the roof next April, I doubt it will be better than my current fixed contract.
