I cannot see anything on the GE site about how to physically install a 9.5Kw battery.
If its wall mounted then clearly its fixed to the wall and secure.
If its floor mounted:-
Should it be raised off the floor?
If its ok to floor mount it, should it still have the mounting bracket installed to stabilise the battery
Instinctively I'd rather have it off the floor but my installer has just plonked it down.
Having given it a push looks like its pure gravity holding it in place.
Any ground rules?
9.5Kw battery physical installation
Mine is basically standing on the floor but also slotted into its wall mount to keep it secure. Installer felt that hanging that weight on the (breezeblock) wall with the supplied bracket wouldn't really be safe. Must admit I agreed with him!
I found a copy on the web of the installation training manual in pdf, but cannot remember where.
I downloaded a pdf copy, but don't know how/where to post it if anyone wants it

SteveCook Yes I found one too but it only talks about seperation between multiple batteries, nothing that I can see about the actual mounting methodology.
What I'd like to see is guidance from GE on the mechanics of the mounting method.

SimonP Yes I see what you mean. But it should be possible to lay a course of bricks or breeze blocks to take the weight and then fit the bracket for stability.
Perhaps I'm being too finickity but looking at my two lovely 9.5Kw batteries just sitting swaying in the breeze (metaphorically) worries me a bit.
I suspect they are too heavy to be worried about any kind of breeze!

interesting (silly) that the fixing instructions do not tell you what the offset is from the bracket to the battery sides/top /bottom.
ie, how far in from the side of the battery the side of the bracket is.
SteveCook That's exactly what I was after, many thanks. The wall is a layer of breezeblock then stone, total about 300mm so would be deep enough. But I think the best thing is to leave the batteries on the floor but fit the bracket for security.
positor1 Yes that would be a sensible thing to have shown on the diagram wouldn't it.
Am I the only person who finds the design of the inverter connections rather silly. Once you mount the inverter above the battery you have all the connections in the gap between them where you cannot see what you are doing. The only way seems to be to lay a smartphone on the battery top with the camera facing front selected and use that as a sort of mirror! If the connections had been on the side rather than the bottom they would all be visible and accessible.
I am not an installer, but I would look at what other companies do, which is raise the battery 3-6” off the ground.
Many have what is essentially a foot/base/concrete block which keeps the battery above the water level from say a burst pipe or heavy rain flow.
In your position I would place it on a suitable a stone or concrete block which is bolted down to the ground and fit the wall brackets with resin bonded thread/bolts in the correct place to stop tilting risks.
Again I stress I am not an installer so this is not based on anything certified or verifiable.

BarryForde . The GE online training states a minimum clearance below the inverter of 30 cm, so the top of the battery should be at least this distance away. Minimum clearances to each side is 40 cm, and above is 40 cm.
Guidance on the battery mounting as follows:-
~ All batteries must be secured to the wall even if the weight of the battery is sat on the floor using the fixings provided.
~ Wall depth should be at least 120 mm.
~ Batteries should not have the weight hung on a wall bracket when fixing to plasterboard or Thermolite blocks.
~ Batteries must be mounted at least 50 mm from ground level when outside or in areas at risk of flood.
For my 9.5 kWh battery installation next week that is outside, I am going to insist on 300 mm up from the ground to allow for snow build-up in Winter as well. I will have plenty of loose bricks available to initially support it whilst being attached to the wall. I may add some L-brackets under the bottom edge as well for extra support.
Simon_C Thanks for that, very useful. I've just checked and my installer has mounted my inverters 25cm above the batteries, so a bit too close. Perhaps thats why its difficult to see whats what. Things like dip switch settings are impossible to see in the gap. I guess the seperation rule is all about air flow so being in an unheated garage in the north of England might allow a little leeway?
My installation is inside my garage which has a level concrete floor, BUT there is an incoming water pipe and tap about 1.5m along the same wall from where the battery is standing. Would that count as risk of flood or is it ok to just assume the water will run out under the door and not get above a few millimeters depth pooling on the floor and not threaten the innards of the battery?
