I am observing a small but steady battery drain to the grid of only about 10w. Is this just data noise, or is there some kind of settings to tweak?
I have set an export margin of 50w with a response delay of 10 seconds on the eddi to stop it draining battery when heating water with solar surplus.
My setup: 4.2 KW Solar array; 8.2 battery with inverter both GivEnergy; zappi and eddi (zappi currently unused waiting for EV to arrive)
A constant 10w? Where are you seeing that? The web dashboard does not update very frequently. But the tiny export happens when everything needs to balance, it should last 10 - 30 seconds max. If it is constant that is not right. If you have the mobile app and the mobile is on the same wifi as the inverter the app will refresh every 10 seconds.

its fine. I do the same. Sometimes I see hundreds of watts going into the grid when my batteries are not fully charged and wonder why. But that snap shot is a tiny amount of power.
I saw this post while looking for something about the apparent rapid jump in my battrery charge of over 50% capacity (8.2kW battery) in a 5 minute period this morning. I'm adding to this thread though, because I ALWAYS have a constant import or export on the go, which I, like @Thatsaboutit had assumed was 'noise'. Can anyone suggest what's happening in either scenario of the apparent constant import or export, or the sudden apparent charge surge, or is it the case, as I'm beginning to believe, that I have an issue somewhere in my system? It's been in now for 3 months
Images show both an overnight discharge at ambient usage, but there was also a steady import going on, and the huge charge from 43% to 100% in the 5 minute slot between 11:25 and 11:30 today.
mrtnbcky The charge spike is a firmware issue GE are aware of but have no fix for, yet. The discharge one looks ok to me. Looks like you ambient moves quite a lot between 200 and 400 ish watts? Just checked mine for yesterday and my background is 200 - 300 watts with some export around 20w and some import about 10 - 15w. But those little bits will add up to nothing at all. I would say that is normal. The charge spike though not good.

My concern is that I'm not actually anywhere near 100%, but that I'm no longer charging because my system 'thinks' the battery is full, then this evening, I'm going to see a rapid 'discharge' back down to nothing.
I'm fairly happy that the discharge is accurate - we have a couple of fridge freezers, CCTV system, central heating uses electicity to offset gas usage by pumping warm water round the system every now and then, so it will fluctuate quite a bit even at night.

It wouldn't do any harm although they'll likely point to Givenergy as the issue is to do with the product, not the installation. It's annoying that you buy xkWh battery capacity and (at least for some) before you know it, you have an unpredictable and unreliable reduction in battery capacity. A recalibration can help but it isn't a fix.

mrtnbcky You could check the capacity in a few ways. Easiest would be to set it to fully charge then use it all up,cooking, washing heating etc etc and check how much the battery says it has discharged for that day.
