My 9.5 battery was installed in August and has been working well, with very few concerns.
Last night it was set to charge to 50% during the E7 period, but around midnight it discharged to 0%, sat there for a while then recharged to 100%.
It now appears to be discharging to the home normally during a period of little solar generation. Is this some sort of 3-monthly re-calibration?
I've had it twice now, but is is different to the SoC issue.
It doesn't jump percentage, but during normal operation fully discharges to the grid.
I did report it, but feel I was fobbed off as the person just kicked off a calibration to "resolve" it.
I then happened a week or so later, but with the imminent (lol) firmware upgrade I didn't bother reporting it again.
Each time I tried resets, factory defaults, hard off/on but the only way to temper it is to set max discharge so I could at least make use of the energy.
So yes, a different issue to the SoC one but one I hope will be resolved in a newer firmware as newer versions seem to exist that probably contain unpublished bug fixes.
Unexpected recalibration. I had this once about 3 weeks ago. Contacted GE support who fixed it in seconds.

A remotely initiated calibration should generate a notification in the portal.
I've had several mystery discharges down to 5% overnight since commissioning of a 9.5Kwh battery on 19th August. Dates are 25th Sept, 13th Oct, 30th Oct, 16th Nov and also last night (just currently charging battery from grid - solar not contributing enough at this time of year).
I was told and presumed the firmware update around the 18th Oct would fix this problem which it plainly hasn't........ I haven't touched any of the settings since install as I'm not totally sure of what I would be doing.

Have you set the inverter to charge overnight or are you expecting the battery to stop at a reserve set higher? It's not clear why the discharge is unexpected from your description. What sort of inverter do you have? Have you had a firmware update applied? The beta firmware which some have had applied to their inverter does seem to be working but unless you are on the beta test, a reserve higher then 4% doesn't seem to work on an AC-coupled inverter.
Thanks for your reply Tim. I have been using the Eco mode since commissioning and I was told that the battery would discharge itself occasionally for maintenance. Battery discharge reserve is set to 4%. Discharge mode set to Dynamic. The inverter is the Givenergy AC-coupled inverter. The inverter firmware seems to be version D0.535-A0.535 and battery firmware version is 3008. I describe it as unexpected as I'm not aware that a discharge in the Eco mode should happen so frequently. I'm not sure if firmware updates can be applied to my system remotely or whether I have to do them myself. I will probably be in contact with my installers this coming week.
Holt Looks like you're on the most recent inverter firmware and an up to date battery firmware (although not the beta being tested to mitigate State of Charge display problems). If you've had a poor PV day, the battery won't be fully charged by the time the sun goes down. The battery discharging down to 4% would happen as a result of house demand exceeding your battery capacity. It's what happens this time of year and the reason why so many owners are on time of use tariffs - to load shift to the off-peak period in the early hours by charging the battery and consume the following evening, avoiding higher charge rates.
Tim Only just seen your reply. Thanks. Good to know re firmware. As far as I'm aware there's no tariff that caters purely for people with PV and a battery. I believe you need an EV as well which I don't want at the moment so for for about 3 months of the year I'm going to be no better off than most people without solar and a battery. But I'm sure there's some glitch that is causing the battery to drain for no reason down to 5%. I'm in touch with the company which installed the system and someone is due to come round probably next week.
Holt Economy 7/10 available on smart meters, not as good as some EV tariffs, but may be worth a look. Depends on how much you’d need to use during peak. Try EDF or Octopus but I hear avoid British Gas?
