Where to find iBoost data

Just got a new system fitted this week. When it had finished setting up I had a full battery and my hot water was at the set temperature, so some energy was "lost" to the grid, instead of being used by the iBoost. I've changed my gas water heating times until after the sun disappears to try to avoid this happening again. (When the battery settles down and I change to an Economy 7 setting, or turn the gas boiler off in the spring I'll need a rethink.)

The iBoost is telling me I've saved 0.56kWh today. This is odd since my battery has been between 23% and 52% and I thought it only diverted when the battery was full. Is there anywhere on the dashboard that this usage is shown? Or is it just in with the house usage? Would this have come from the solar, or is it possible it came from the battery? It can't have come from the grid as this is only 0.212kWh for the whole day!

The iBoost has no integration with the GE system at all, so the GE portal and app cannot see any activity (apart from house load)
The iBoost can kick in if the panels are producing more than the inverter can supply to the battery. It is triggered when the iBoost CT clamp senses grid export.
You will probably need to increase the threshold on the iBosst to 200/250 Watts otherwise it can grab battery power, which you do not want to happen.

I have a 5kwp/9.5kwh batt/iBoost.
You'll be very lucky to get anywhere near a full battery charge at the moment so I have come to the conclusion it is much better to turn the iBoost completely off at the moment and have a further play closer to Easter!

I've set mine to come on for the last hour of the Intelligent Octopus period. A kWh of electricity is 25% cheaper than gas, plus it's 100% efficient.

Zakalwe I look forward to the day when I can join an off peak tariff but that needs an EV with Octopus, sadly....

Andy C E7 doesn't need an EV.

Andy C Thee are lots of Economy 7 tariffs available which don't need and EV.

Tim interesting - I'll investigate!!

Tim Economy 7 tariffs available which don't need and EV

but at 16.35p per kwh it is still more per kwh than gas.

positor1 You are right that an off-peak E7 tariff may be more than the cost of gas/kWh. If you want to heat the house and have gas then switch it on. If you want to watch the TV, illuminate your rooms or power the fridge or simply don't have gas, then E7 is an option to consider.

Andy C Go doesn't seem to need an EV if you read what some people say. I'm in the process of switching now to Go and don't have an EV, will update when I have an answer

Both Go and IO require you to have an EV in the T+Cs. Octopus can be a bit variable in how much they check.
Lots of people just lie and say that they have a hybrid on order.

#13 Cdent

Zakalwe that's what I've done, told them I've got one on order. Don't see how they could tell the difference between my battery and a hybrid charging up.

It's abusing the system and probably will kill the job for everyone.

The energy supplier is happy - in exchange for low rates for a few hours, they can jack up the rates for the rest of the time. Win wIn for them, and, usually, for the National Grid, because soaking up otherwise unused wind power overnight reduces thier costs significantly.

Cdent well, Go application came and went through yesterday, change made that day and topped up over night during the Go window. Unfortunately it ignored my 70% max charge, something I need to look at. Ultimately want to automate using homeassistant and solar forecasts.

Don't bother with the inbuilt forecasting in the current version of GTivTCP. It is disabled for 6 months of the year.

Zakalwe ok, I was going to look at the speak to the geek article and try and use their automation in some way, I didn't know GivTCP had a forecasting function previously.

it didn't use to have it built in to GivTCP, but the latest version has. Unfortunately, it only seems to work from March for 6 months!

Certainly when I tried it it just charged the battery to 100%, even when the forecast was for 15kWh generation for the next day.

Tim well it's taken some time but finally changed to Eco 7 from Octopus, charging up battery overnight, also coincided with beta testing of new firmware so all exciting here!!
Thanks for the heads up, already saving money.

please check that you are actually being charged the night rate. it took weeks for octopus to finally start charging me the night rate not peak.

Well the smart meter is allocating the usage correctly to Eco 7 ('#2'), and the IHD is showing correct charge during day and night as per NW settings. So is there anything else I need to do to check I am being charged correctly? Maybe put some meter readings into Octopus app after a couple of days?

I downloaded the meter data from octopus dashboard and noticed the kwh use was not assigned to night time hours. they confirmed and weeks later after many many calls they corrected it and refunded the overcharge.
