App just not working

I've tried and failed to get the app to work, and four optomizers fitted as the panels were not drawing in enough light. It's so frustrating, I've uninstalled the app, reloaded but still off line.
Would really appreciate any ideas of how I can get this to work I was told it might be a problem with my WiFi, but have a booster right next to the battery... X

Deborah_lynch The app collects data from the cloud initially and tries to connect locally (Home) once you've got your local wifi on your phone. If you can see the data in the web portal, then your inverter is speaking to the cloud and your login is good. Log into your account on the app, check you're connected to your local wifi. The app will use 4G if you haven't got wifi but it will only pull data from the cloud (unless you've got some clever VPN business going on). Once you have logged on and can see the cloud (Away) data, you are seeing the same as from the web portal. After that, it's about the app finding your inverter locally over wifi.

Basically GE cocked up the app with their latest update. They have sent out a questionairre relating to what phone. tablet etc everyone uses. I currently can only use the cloud info, my "Home" button does not work. Until they fix it of course!!

Can't see how "Ge cocked it up" as it works just fine for me, and many others. So it must be some combination of circumstances unique to you/your device that makes it not work for you?

Trouble is that, "in the wild", there are far more variables than can be thought of in the lab - just look at design failures on cars (which cost many times more than Ge systems, and infinitely more than what you paid for the app).

It's funny how some apps just work. I have apps that have worked perfectly for me for nearly a decade, despite being moved from phone to phone, on multiple different manufacturers hardware, across many versions of Android and alongside a gazillion other apps.

Then there's the GE app. It kinda worked, then got updated and worked fine, then got updated and stopped working altogether then an update to the latest update makes it kinda work again. All in the space of about 3 months. Lets not mention their inverter firmware or their not-so-Smart plugs.

They should rename it Schrödinger's app. You don't know if it will work or not until you install it and look at it. And every time that you open it you don't know if it is alive or dead until you look at it.

So, I popped out at lunch time today. Returned home to find the GE APP on my IPad working as it should!!

Updating itself every 11 secs and the displayed values are adding up.

Only thing still showing is the message on the Home button telling me the app is not connected to my inverter.

Someone has certainly done something back at GE HQ because I haven't, other than go out!!

To work on both my Pixel 6 Pro and my Android tablet I open the app and then just leave it for a minute or two. After initially reporting that it can't find a local server, then showing old data it usually kicks into life. Sometimes I have to manually kill the old instances.

It's a bit like myself getting off the sofa. It takes a groan or two, a bit of creaking and a couple of cracks from the joints, but I get there eventually....

Mine is a similar Schroedingers app. Have improved matters by reserving an IP address against its MAC address in my DHCP server. Then set app to do manual IP lookup using the IP address I reserved. I think the issue is broadcast storms according to my studies with wireshark. Have raised a ticket.

Excuse my ignorance here - is this post talking about the app not working in relation to the EV Charger?

no. just not loading for some people.

If I turn on and off 'search inverter manually' and come out and back into the app it usually connects first time. I presume this wakes up the inverter?

Tim hi Tim I just got battery installed yesterday by the electricians and it was fine last night but this morning after checking web portal it’s showing as “no data” both on there and app could suggest a reason or what to do please

WajidAli Check the portal to see when the last data was recorded. If it was more than 5 minutes ago (maybe fifteen in practice), then the inverter isn't talking to the cloud. If your app has been working (ie your account login is good), and you can't see any data in "Away" mode, try "Home". If you still can't see any data, it's likely your dongle has disconnected from your wifi and has failed to reconnect. If that's the case, you could ask your installer to come back and have a look, or if you're confident, remove the dongle (two screws on the underside), leave it a few seconds and then reinsert. That should spur it to attempt to connect again. If it still fails to connect (should be a constant blue light if its good), search this forum for instructions on how to unplug the dongle, plug it into your laptop/desktop etc and configure it manually.

Tim thank you very much it’s up now Tim I’ve got one more slight problem if you have any advice for this, it’s the solar panels they’ve been idle for about two days now and clearly right now it’s sunny outside any reason for this
