Hi all, Im new to Givenergy but have been making preparations for a while. which included setting up with Octopus eco 7 tariff. Ive included all my data for Octopus into the Givevergy portal Mpan, serial and API so on. But its showing price per Kwh as 33.72p not my dual tariff. Does it take a while to populate correctly or is something wrong?
Octopus smart tariff price incorrect
A900 does it show that price per kWh for the whole day if you expand the widget? Or is this the average? I’m on IO and the “todays rates” tab shows the current rate, the next rate(for the next half hour) and the average for the day as headlines, but if I scroll through the half hour periods on the left I see the low rates early in the morning.

Exactly the problem I have had since Nov 25th, octopus keep saying they have asked a metering specialist to look into it, was assured would be fixed Friday just gone...its not.
A900 ah, that’s doesn’t sound correct if you are on Eco7. Is you bill calculated correctly?Have you managed to use you Octopus API details with any of the Octopus comparison apps to see if the issue is with Octopus or Givenergy? Lots of good information here https://www.guylipman.com/octopus/
As far an automations I think these are fairly limited via the portal at present, I think these is one for Octopus Go, the was something for Agile on the old portal - not sure if that is in the new one, but nothing for Octopus Intelligent yet. But you can use the manual charge settings for the Eco7 period and Eco for the rest of the day, which is what I do.
I had the same problem and all I did was enter manually using the GIV option under the smart metering tab.

I've had an issue since switching Octopus tariff where my smart meter IHDs (Chameleon and Glow) are stuck showing my old rates from 4 weeks ago.
The Octopus Portal is also showing an error where it would normally show tariff info. Having said that, the GE Portal is retrieving the correct tariff rates.
Octopus haven't got their head around it yet... Struggling to get decent support.
dcsh my latest bill was not been calculated correctly. They had most of my usage in the peak period. Which I new wasn’t true as I’ve had off rod storage for around a month and most of our usage was moved to line up with the eco 7.
I drew down the CSV of my 30 min breakdown of usage and compared it to my bill and it was wrong. They have now credited me with the difference. I wondered if that could have caused an issue or if the error with tariffs in the Givenergy portal was a know thing.
I’ve been on the guylipman site before and remember seeing 2 tariffs listed under the details.

same here. charging me for day peak rate despite api saying 33p and charging batteries overnight. sick of ringing them and emails do not get answered. Octopus have gone downhill it seems.
I was told when I phoned them about this a few weeks back to raise it on Twitter to get dealt with fast. I didn’t want to call them out. But was worried others particularly older people that are less tech and data savvy might be over charged without ever knowing.
I shouldn’t have to rely on my own CT clamps and data pulls to get the correct bill each month
A900 sorry to hear about these problems with Octopus, I’ve had a couple of issues with bills not being generated, but they have resolved the fairly quickly.
In reference to your original post, if Octopus can’t get things right on your account then there is little chance that Givenergy will be able to show things correctly using the Octopus API.
Fingers crossed Octopus can sort it out, but I agree that people who don’t or can’t keep track of their own usage are at the mercy of energy companies getting it right, which can not be relied upon.
Even with billing me incorrectly I wasn’t sure if it was the Octopus API that was at fault or the Givenergy side of things causing the odd pricing on the Givenergy portal. It looks like others have had the same issue.
Having this issue. Octopus are blaming Giv, which doesn't seem right to me. I'd have thought if the problem was on Giv's side then the API called data would just be displayed in a mess. It seems highly unlikely this section of the app would function and just supply a random number unless it was an engineering test value left in, which would affect everyone. As far as I'm aware, the Giv app doesn't "know" that I'm on E7, it just knows what the API tells in it terms of time Vs price. I suspect they didn't consider E7 as a likely option and didn't test it.
Unfortunately, if I don't know that it works, I'm reluctant to move to a more complex tariff that opens up more room for problems.
PhilS Sorry to hear that. I've just asked Octo to put me on E7 because my car and charger aren't compatible with IO Go. And I need 6 hours to charge my 19kW batteries at the cheap rate.
They made it difficult to transfer - I had to ring them three times - and now I'm wondering that's because the billing is unreliable. They told me I could change tariff on the website bit that's not an option.
I think swapping between Octopus smart tariffs is relatively easy cos they do it all the time and they all work off the half hourly readings. With Economy 7 it is a bit different. They actually have to activate a second register on your smart meter. The folks on the help desk can't do this. They have to raise a ticket to the behind the scenes metering department to do this. I went for ECO 7 last year and it took about 3 weeks and 6 or 7 phone calls to get it activated. When customer service tell you it is active check that your meter is showing 2 registers and do a short charge at the peak and off peak times to make sure it is registering correctly (check readings before and after the charge on each register). They told me my ECO 7 was activated, but I didn't see the second register on my meter, so called them up. Other people have had them get peak and off peak the wrong way round. I t may be a faff, but at least Octopus offer ECO 7 with your existing smart meter - British Gas told me I would need a special ECO 7 meter even though I had a Gen 2 smart meter (but then I have found them all to be clueless or downright obstructive - hence the switch to Octopus)
I have often wondered why they Eco 7 should work any differently to Go or IO, surely the same principal applies but it's just a longer off-peak rate and a different price, they could do a smart Eco 7 for people that have compatible 30 min reading smart meters.
