Help required we had a trip and the battery did not charge last night. I have tried to force charge the battery but nothing works. Battery level is now zero which isn’t good ! Help.

One of my batteries had a very low voltage this morning (45V @ idle), so I tried to force charge it from the grid, using the Portal - but nothing happened. It only started to do anything when I used the App., to force charge it.

Depending on which method you have tried, you might want to try the other one, to see if it makes any difference.

One of your pics shows the DC breaker off (down) and one of your App pictures shows almost no voltage. I assume these were taken at the same time?

Then you have one with the DC breaker on (up) and one of your App pictures shows a voltage of 50.92V. Were these also taken at the same time?

If yes and yes, then it looks like the inverter is actually seeing the battery, when the DC breaker is on, which is a good start.

You could also try re-starting the battery, using the round button on the right hand side of the battery. Long hold to turn off, and then a short press to re-start. If that fails, then probably worth trying the chat function on the GE web site, to see if they can see the problem from their end, or perhaps force using their admin account.

Are there any error messages in the logs, which might give additional clues?

You could also try 'Reset to Defaults' (i.e. Eco mode and nothing else), just in case one of the settings is preventing the charge. I have seen people who say that some settings have changed without them touching anything.

ToothyChris Hi Chris thanks, ok re-started the batteries as you recommend.

Your first question, yes - soon after I switched the breaker down to on.
Second question, yes

Still not charging after force charging the battery. Will look at the logs and try and post. Will try the chat function as you recommend. Thank you.

Those green breakers are UP to be on/connected - just to be clear...

ToothyChris Yes the green breaker is up. So I have just spoken to Cavan at GE. He tells me that the installer has got to visit and bypass the battery so they can force charge it. Seems that the software has not stopped the battery capacity falling below 4% and its run super low probably as a result of the trip - who knows. Anyway installer is super busy but will do his best to come out. Frustrating to say the least !

OK. So what voltage has the battery actually gone down to now? The c.51V in your picture should not be an issue, but if it has gone down a lot lower, it could cause this kind of problem.

I have heard of a similar case which I saw on one of the GE Facebook groups, where an external power supply was required to 'jump start' the battery back into life.

Good luck with your installer.

(I really think that the GE systems should have e-mail alerts, which get sent out to customers if it detects certain issues like tripped breakers. It could save everyone a lot of hassle in the long run).

ToothyChris Absolutely - and I will alert them to this thread. To answer your question I am currently at 3.3 2 volts pretty low - I am seriously hoping this will not damage the battery else I am going to be on GE’s case.

Hi did you get anywhere with this as my installer is struggling with battery, it worked when new install but has dropped very low to 0.67 v the inverter hasnt stopped it from discharging, he is going to comeback and take a look but i fear it will need charging. We have had a very long waits betweeen stuff but now stuck with H5 and 5.2 batttery
thanks
