Missing data?

Anyone missing any data overnight?

No data between 2am and 6am in the My Inverter section. Which also makes the app look strange.

And my battery percentage is at 98% - so I suspect it either finished charging later than usual or used the grid for longer than it should have.

Don't think I've had a power cut or internet outage.

Same here but the web based monitoring seems to have the correct data.
Tried to delete the data in the app to refresh the app but it sends me in a loop of login

NigelPlatt correction - Graphs have missing data but summary at top of web based dashboard seems to have correct day totals

Just had this notification
There was an issue with one of our key services between 02:00 and 06:00 GMT today, meaning that no inverter data was recorded during this time and has ultimately been lost. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused

Maybe their battery that powers their server went from 50 % to 0% due to duff firmware?

Granularity of the data will have been lost, but not the overall usage. Unfortunate, but shit happens.

anglefire but shit happens

But " stuff" happens

I noted the web portal was giving a 500 error in the night ( early hours ) and my app also didn't work. Portal now working, but for me app is still not showing any data ( all ??) - I'm on SIM dongles.

I was late to bed and saw the event happening. Local and remote monitoring was down and logging in to the web portal gave a server 500 error. Their website said all services were up however - clearly they weren't.

This is a critical service failure in my book. Coming from a world of web, apps and high-integrity ecommerce solutions, you simply can't afford to have services fall over like that. Redundancy and auto-failover is expensive but you just have to do it. Looks like another area GE need to work on.

sponev I have a website/forum for a club which we run two servers - one live and one rsync’d (it has a database for the forum)
It requires manual intervention to swap the ip address on the domain name - but as we use aws that takes about 2minutes.

In about 6 years we haven’t had to use the fallback server. But for the extra cost a month it’s a no brainier (about £3)

Now I accept that the givenergy servers are probably more powerful etc. but they should be on a pier1 server which has a high uptime. We had that for one of our critical data servers at work. But did cost a significant amount.

But how critical is the server? From a data storage and reporting not that critical. Yes some granularity is lost but not the end of the world. However as it is used for control of many peoples systems, particularly around the time of the failure, then it is pretty critical.

How critical it is for an individual is for the individual to decide. For me it’s inconvenient. And it’s why I have local monitoring and control. But others don’t have either the skill set or inclination to do the work needed to make it work locally.

anglefire I think you summed it up nicely when you noted that it's intended for consumers, not technical specialists/hobbyists, to control their systems. That makes it pretty critical in my book and I guess 98% of the rest of the users out there.

It's a shame the inverter (or perhaps the dongle as that's where the brains are) couldn't cache X hours of data.

Although I guess that adds to the complexity of the system and thus the price too.

TX200 Its not that much cost I would think - some of the systems I deal with at work do exactly that - have an amount on board (Can be quite a lot in practice, months) and upload (Or pulled depending on the system) from the server.
Memory is cheap and the principles well known,

If they don't have a secure server system, you would think that as a minimum someone would get an emergency alert, if the servers went down in the middle of the night......

My app data is up and running again, but only one battery percentage showing, the other is still ??
I'm guessing it update at some point.

Just read the known issues section. Givenergy says that there was a server fault, and they apologised. The data was not recorded for that period (02.00-06.00). All seems to be back to normal here!

Seems as though the new app update has broken the display information of the second battery and only shows ?? - I thought it might correct itself but hasn't.
