Hi,
I have recently had installation of solar and an 186 Ah | 9.52 kWh battery .

I have scheduled the charge of the battery to make use of the cheap import power (00:30-04:30) until such a time as there is enough solar to power the battery using Octopus GO tariff.

This worked well for a day with the battery powering the house in combination with the solar until 18:00.

However in subsequent days the battery has stopped working although showing lots of power. However if I restart the inverter (GIV-AC3.0) from the portal, the battery kicks back into life and continues to power the house before stopping again(no sense as to why and when)

The installation was installed a month ago so relatively new to to solar setup and wanted to make sure not a something not set up correctly before i go back to the installer?

Any help gratefully received.

Your installer should be able to interrogate you system remotely to see if this is equipment, installation or user issue. As a precaution I would reset all settings and then set the system in eco mode with a timed charged to cover your off peak charge. Make these settings in the portal and not the app to ensure the inverter receives your updated request.

thanks, will give the installer a call tomorrow to have a look at as the inverter is in eco mode already with only the scheduled charge time which seems to be working. Just the discharge time that is proving an issue.

neil_stanley You reference "discharge time". You only need two settings - Eco mode and the scheduled overnight AC Charge. Do not set a discharge time.

Hi steve, yes have the discharge time left as disabled\dynamic, have only set the charge time which is working as expected.

HI All, thought i would drop an update this issue i experienced.

It turned out that water has ingresses to the inverter and was intermittently setting off the internal moisture sensor that would stop the inverter. Giv energy replaced the unit under warranty as the seal had failed and worked like a dream since.

Have since paid to have cover provided over the area that houses my battery and inverters for belt and braces going forward.

was frustrating at the time as resulted in a few months where not utilizing the battery but all well that ends well.

Didn't even know it had a moisture sensor beyond it filling up the dongle!
Anyway you did well on getting replacement without a canopy over it on warranty (that was one of the big but often missed exclusions normally on claims for water ingress) so yes covering it was a good idea!
