I wondered if anyone has done the sums or has done a spreadsheet to time export on octopus agile outgoing. I want to take into account degradation caused by the export.
So say I’m on eco 7 and pay 17p per kWh for energy imported. Profit is export rate minus cycling costs., import cost per kWh and efficiency losses. I’m hoping to find the minimum export price to make it worthwhile to export.
Export them nothing, store and use yourself
This works out better in £ long term
lifco possibly, but sometimes agile outgoing can pay £1+ per kWh
Cdent try asking on the FB page. Someone on there claimed he was making good money from this a few months ago.
without any science to back up my system, i will only export if the payment per kwh is 50p or above where i have purchased at 18p, I feel the cost of wear on the battery is probably significant but am incapable of the maths.
stevelewis might have been me on this forum, I was charging up then exporting at the high rates, and getting the Octopus points for it as well. Was making £3-£4 per kWh some days
Cdent well done. The most ive seen so far is automate from home assistant the cheapest hour and the chepest 2 hour. I can then choose whether to do one hour or two via a toggle (plan to automate fully in future)
I’m getting electric in at 17p and have a condition that the export price is above 24p for testing. If someone had work for how much the degradation and losses effect the cost I can work out a reasonable export price for my cut off.
I’m only using around 30-40 percent of my battery at the moment. Washing machine and dishwasher on at night and charging by 7.30am to 80%. I might as well export and make something off it. Just need to work out the profit point
