When I ordered the Givenergy gen2 battery one of the reasons was the 100% depth of discharge claim.
However my system is commissioned so the battery cuts out at 4%, implying I can't actually use 100% of the battery, is this correct? It seems a little mis-sold in this respect.

The DoD figure relates to what capacity you can actually extract from the battery compared to its nominal capacity. 100% DoD batteries are actually larger than their nominal rating, they are actually still 80% DoD of their real capacity. Quite confusing, I do accept. The 4% bottom limit is there to enable the inverter to power up/maintain settings from a grid outage - the inverter draws a maintenance current from the batteries.
I reckon if you discharge a 9.5kWhr from 100 to 4% you get more than 9.5kWhr.
My 9.5 looks to be giving close to 11.
Roberto my 5.2kwh battery has a Usable 4178wh, according to the label on it.
My 3 x 5.2s a full charge is between 12.8 and 13.8kwh, depending on temperature.
A full calibration, is real 0 to 100 is nearer 16.5kwh. So even the 5.2s have some additional cell capacity when new
