The dongle on the inverter will not contect, worked perfectly well, until the 6.1.23 its only 4 months old, is of the WiFi type, not 4G.

Question how common is dongle failure installer to replace it.

Are you sure it is the dongle that is the cause of the problem? Do you get as far as it flashing blue? If you can get it to a flashing blue state then I would just leave it for a few hours and see if it eventually connects. (Very) slow connect times are being reported more and more which leads me to wonder if the Giv Energy servers are running out of capacity to cope with the number of systems installed. (I am unclear if the dongle goes steady blue when it successfully connects to the local router or to the Giv Energy server).

Another thing the dongle does not seem to like is if your router operates on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. I spent all day yesterday reconfiguring my router to have different SSIDs for each band and then resetting all my wifi devices. The dongle only works on 2.4 GHz but if your router uses the same SSID for both bands it appears connection can be a bit hit or miss (only for the dongle; none of my other devices have a problem). The dongle reconnected immediately first time after making this change (it has taken up to 2 hours in the past). Not sure if I actually achieved anything or if I was just lucky with hitting the GE server at the right time! Worth a try though.

Woodstock This is spot on. If my phone connects to our 2.4ghz network, I really struggle to use the app. On the 5ghz network, no problem. The sids are marginally different however, one just has 5g appended. Baffled me for a while! I wonder if this is what a lot of folk who say they struggle with the app are experiencing?

Is your install outside or inside, as they do not appear to be very well sealed against water and damp....

Woodstock Not sure why the 5GHz band could cause a problem with the dongle as it doesn't have capability on that bandwidth; it doesn't have the internals to transmit or receive at 5GHz. I'm not saying that what you experienced isn't right, just that I can't work out why. What is more common (at least in built-up areas) is "noisy neighbours" whose ISP has sent them a dual bandwidth router that transmits across multiple channels to get the "300Mbs" wifi speeds, thereby causing congestion locally. Shouldn't be a problem in remote areas although there is a caravan site about 200m from our property and we can see all their access point and EV charger SSIDs on our phone wifi settings.

My ISP (BT) doesn't let you split the bands, you can only disable one or the other, so it's: No Wifi, 2.4Ghz only, 5Ghz only, or both on the same SSID.

When 5Ghz is enabled so it can do both bands, the GE dongle won't connect at all, even when other Wifi devices work fine.

I didn't want to mess about with buying extra wifi stuff so I got a 2nd router from the ISP and slaved it on the network with no DHCP, so one of the routers broadcasts only 2.4Ghz and the other 5Ghz on different SSID's.

Absolutely silly problem to have in this day and age really!

LordHippos we are also with BT with 100Mbps broadband. Both SSIDs have the same name and both of our dongles connect to the 2.4GHz band (mostly) with no problem.

Are the routers the same? I have the smart hub 2 with full fibre I think.

Mine outright refused to connect or even see the Wifi as long as 5Ghz was enabled. The moment I turned it off it worked fine.

I find that surprising that BT would do that...no wait ....it's BT! haha

LordHippos Ours is the same. Did you try changing from Mode 1 to 2 or 3 on the Advanced wireless configuration page? Ours is at the default of Mode 1 as the inverters are only about 4m away albeit through three brick walls.

I got tired of messing with it, my Wifi also doesn't work full stop if I reboot the router until I go in and turn it off and on again (classic IT fix).

But during commissioning I could see that the dongle straight up couldn't detect the Wifi SSID when my other devices could with both bands enabled.

It's OK as is with two routers, because the different SSID values mean I can control which one it connects to and reboot them independently if needed.

Day 10 still not connecting, it has tried without success, waiting on the installer to get back to me
