Would be nice to see a total price within the card - X spent 'off peak' between 1230 and 0430 and then total spent 'Peak'. Would be nice to have this info to hand - Thanks

Whilst you point is re Octopus, its actually holds for all other tariffs from other supliers too. Recording supplier and tariff information for a customer would allow us to do this kind of analysis, as it really starts to demonstrate the value of energy storage
So we may not show price, but show energy peek / offpeak as a start
all - Give the idea a like if you want it. That helps us prioritise
Yes, it's a nice-to-have at-a-glance piece of data to be able to quickly gather. 🙂
simon_swinburne I have designed and use a spreedsheet on my computer for this very reason. I currently enter the necessary details into it, primeritly for monitoring and costing issues. Like the idea though.

Geoff-Bell There is an app on android called Optopus Go Agile which can use the Octopus API and will tell you your costs and usage. So for me on go it calculates I am paying an average of 7.21p per kwh for my energy this month. Curently on the 24.25p day time and 5p 0030 - 0430 go tariff. It also shows me when Agile would of been cheaper, can also show you earning if you are on an Octopus Outgoing tariff too.

I use "Octopus Watch" to do the same. There are several apps out there.
For me the average £/kWh is the important metric, as well as total consumtion.
So the closer that average gets to my off-peak rate, the better the battery and PV are working to manager the peak rate. PV has dropped now, but my average is still on only about 4p more than off peak rate ( so not as good as @THALL ). it was <1p difference when the sun was out :-)

simon_swinburne The goal is a negative bill ;-) If my system didn't have any issues I think August and September would of been! Sadly battery temp sensor issues and problems with Octopus agile meant 12p kwh average for both months. But the goal is to be eco and not make money, nearly there......

well, if you include FIT payment..... mine is very negative :-)))) I have had my PV a while so have old rates.
FIT offsets all standing charges etc, and more.
Personally I have 2 objectives. Green and cost effective. I am also a 'bit' of a techie so a very smart home and all sorts of energy optimisations. Thats just fun to do. Maybe thats another thread?

simon_swinburne Ah my systems are new. My 2.4kw has jus turned 2 and my 4.6 was installed end of July so no FIT only SEG.
Like a "what do you run?" and suggestions thread? Could be good to know what others have done and why, feedback on installers, other kit they have plugged in, who has what EV charger etc etc etc. I might start one of setup/equipment suggestions.
THALL Sorry, not on Octopus. Wouldn't accept the installation documentation I have. They insisted on an MCS certificate but I only have a Flexiorb one. Same thing but from a different company. On Bulb instead.

Geoff-Bell Not sure I could go far enough to be "off-grid" . Green yes. Install costs at the moment between generation (SEG not FIT) and winter months I am saving £800 - £1200 per year on my bills.
Ok I think a new forum post to compare and discuss systems. I've seen so many variations and interesting reasons why people go for various solar systems, batteries. Might be good to share, help others make choices from real end users.

For me this is just a hobby with an ambition to see how far I can come off-grid. More likely, Maybe I will be able to export more energy (and get paid for it) than I use throughout the year.
Being 'off-grid' in the summer is easy. I can do that without even blinking. It is the winter that I am interested in. Is anyone else?

Geoff-Bell Ideally yes, but I am unsure what I can do at home to go off grid in winter. I could get small turbine installed but that wont cover it. I was looking at the ATLAS2.0 but I think that will upset the neighbour's if I stuck that on the roof!
Geoff-Bell I would like to get to off grid situation also. Like yourself it's a bit of a hobby, but so far this year my electricity bill is minus £177.22 including standing charge with a consumption of 2743kWh. My generation is just under double my consumption and due to agile outgoing I have actually done quite well on export.
By my reckoning 2743kWh would have cost me about £600 (again including standing charge) so have saved around £775 so far.
Main problem is lack of solar in Winter and would really like to be able to get a 1kW wind turbine that doesn't annoy the neighbours which would cover the majority of the time when sun isn't shining.
