How do I stop export to grid?

Hi All
Apologies. My installation was completed yesterday and I'm a complete newbie. Please be gentle. My system was switched on yesterday and so far I seem to be exporting to the grid in the most part.
I'm not on any kind of export tariff as no one is taking on customers in this sense but still the system exports. (Clearly the grid gets the benefit from this and I get nothing.)
So my question is how do I stop my system exporting? I'll happily use eco mode - I have an HY5.0 but obviously don't want to export for no gain, or at all at this time of year.
I'm trying to get to grips with how this all works and to be honest I'm just not sure. Any help greatly appreciated.

Was your battery fully charged during this period of export?
Where you still producing solar?

If yes to both then that power will go to the grid for free if you do not have any kind of export tariff in place. Sadly you can not help that, it has to go somewhere. However if you answer no to either of the above please post on here and someone will respond. Pretty good bunch of people on here to help.

Oh also there are often little bits of export through the day as the system ramps up and down to take on your load and balance to the grid. So up to 0.5kw export I would not worry.

Ben A. If your battery is full where do you expect the spare engergy to go? Whilst I can see if might be frustrating that you are not getting paid for it why waste it altogether? How about installing a diverter to use any spare for hot water? If you are using ECO you will not be exporting any power from your battery - only excess generation.

it'll be calibrating, which it first does when switched on. it will drain the battery to zero (into the house and export) and then charge to 100%.

You CAN get an export tariff. It will take a month or two to set up, but they are available. It's best to maximise self consumption though.

Apologies, thought I mentioned that according to the GivEnergy app and website, when generating anything over 120W my batteries are charging and it shows an export to the grid. This is as well as an apparent charge to the battery....
As you say an overspill will go to the grid, I did anticipate that but obviously want my system charged before that happens.

Thank you.
Initially the battery was not charged fully. It was calibrating as Zakalwe mentioned below. That said, I assumed it would calibrate and discharge the batteries into our home and not the grid.
We were still producing. Even as I write this there seems to be all manner of things happening. Some of the time I'm exporting to the grid, ten minutes later I'm importing and all the while producing and some of the time charging my battery packs.
I have reset my system to eco and so hopefully I will get used to what's happening. Bit daunting at the minute.
Where would I post to on here as there is a yes to the above, if it's not negated by the calibrating cycle?

My 9.5 battery was installed yesterday and the installer said to leave well alone for 24 hours. It discharged itself to 0 and then charged off the grid to 100% and has then powered the house down to 5%. Its currently supplying the house and creeping back up from Solar. After 24 hours I'll leave it in Eco and then set timed charge from my Bulb EV tariff to 100% as its winter. It has exported very small amounts and imported very small amounts when it hasn't "needed" to so I'm treating that as the system bedding in but I'm no expert at all!

Sounds like a plan. I think we'll be doing the same and maybe make some changes when we have a few days worth of data to go on.

It will constantly be importing and exporting small amounts, it's all part of what it uses to run the inverter and balance the system demand.

Can anyone tell me how to access the ECO setting on a 9.5 Giv-Hybrid battery? I wasn’t left with an abundance of instructions for my new system.

Caidoz Really your installer should have left it set to ECO, so it should already be on that setting. If you use the portal (on a lap top or computer) you should see a blue strip down the left hand side of the screen. Click on "My Inverter (it looks like a computer screen )This brings up the inverter screen with a lot of tabs along the top (general, software, notifications etc). Click on the tab that says "Settings". The top setting is ECO. It should be highlighted in green. If it isn't and the slidey thing is greyed out and says "disabled" click on it and then click on the submit button. It should think about it for a few seconds and then produce a banner saying your settings have been changed.
On the mobile app, click on the settings icon on the top right hand corner (the one next to the Home Dashboard title

• not the one further down). This will show you your system modes and what your settings are at the moment. Look at the battery discharge settings - discharge mode - this should be set to "dynamic". On the App this is the same as ECO mode.

Ask your installer or Givenergy to reduce your export threshold to zero rather than the G99 limit that should have been set by your installer. The G99 limit is what your DNO has specified in your agreement letter.

To get an SEG tariff, you will need a copy of your DNO agreement letter, your MCS certificate and a schematic diagram of your system, all of which your installer can supply.
