Timed pause feature

Hi,

Does anyone know when or if a timed pause button is going to be added as a feature. I was told by Givenergy that it was in production at the start of last year but all attempts to find out more details have failed. I'm assuming some of you will soon be having the same discharge battery issue when you charge your car, if like me you'll soon stop charging your battery at night. The current way of setting charging parameters for the battery every night to prevent discharge seems to be a complete faff.

I wouldn't mind a timed pause feature. On something like Intelligent Octopus it would be handy to click and say pause battery for 2 hours etc.

THALL I suspect that the overall product design means that it wouldn't be easy to implement - the inverter doesn't appear to have a concept of the full set of operating states and the App even less so.

It could be implemented independently as part of a daily operating schedule, something I've chewed over on here in the recent past. Having an Idle state is a key part of exploiting the benefits of Agile Octopus.

stevelewis but as the app has a pause function could it not just be a timed delayed setting change? Code the app so when you hit pause it asks for how long?

You can (or should I say used to) be able do this in the Octopus R&D app by setting the discharge limit to 100% (essentially pausing discharge)
I was about to post this as the solution however after trying it out again it appears to have F’d my settings up such that no amount of inverter reset to defaults or changes will allow it to discharge again.
It’ll be the big off switch next and if that doesn’t work it’ll be a call to Ge I guess.

THALL not sure the app has any concept of time, and what happens when the app shuts down? Having an inverter, the Web portal/GE server and the app all trying to take control with different internal behaviours isn't a good starting point - look at the command log on the portal and you'll see what I mean

The app is great as a display, but I find that even a forced charge doesn't always end cleanly, compared to using either the portal or the API. Scheduling with a consistent set of commands being sent to the API is best.

hoggy to update: This really did take a call to GE to sort. Although apparently all they did was reset to defaults & restart the inverter (something I did already try myself repeatedly)
I will try again Monday using the R&D Scheduler to see if it's a bug (don't fancy being batteryless over the weekend)
