How can I reconnect the Home dashboard to the Wifi. Only 'Away' is working.

Alvarez21 you have to ensure you are on the same ssid as the dongle and the chances are it won’t discover the dongles ip address.

So firstly I would suggest setting the dongles up address to a fixed one - that is usually done at the router but can be done at the dongle too if you keep it outside of the dchp range (recommended rather than a must)

Once that is done then go into the app on your phone and the settings and set the ip of the dongle manually.

That should make it work.

the problem is that when I select the dongle wifi network my computer is asking for the password. I enter the password of my home wifi but it isn't working. I was checking a video in Youtube on how to reconnect the dongle to the wifi, and it's at that stage when I cannot carry on (the dongle's icon shows the lock for me to enter a password). What can I do?

Alvarez21 Given the app works in away mode, the dongle must be on your wifi as it can't get back to the GivEnergy servers without it.
It sounds like you trying to connect to the dongle directly? In that case the home WiFi password will probably not work. Did the installers not tell you want the dongle password is?

You could try admin as user and admin as password as that is usually the default out of the box - once you have logged in you can change it on the dongle to something secure and that you know.

Alvarez21 A few straightforward questions first.

Is the dongle connected to your router using wifi? Check if its blue stauts light is steady.

Do you know the ip address of the dongle? If not log in to your router and check the devices connected. Look for something with a name like '..HA21..'. Note the ip address.

While you are there check the ip address of your mobile device and make a note of that.

The two (dongle and mobile device) must be on the same subnet. They both must have the same first three parts of the ip address.

If this is the case then the mobile device should be able to see the dongle and the app should be able to work in local mode.

If this does not happen but all the above is true then open the app and go to settings in the main hamburger menu and then select local monitoring. Select manual search and enter the ip address of the dongle. It should then try and find it directly and a tick should appear next to the ip address and you are good to go.

anglefire The installers didn't tell me any password, a part from my log in (for the actual GivEnergy account). I can't seen anything now. This is far too complicated for me to undersdand. not sure what to do!

Alvarez21 When they installed it they would have asked you for the wifi details of your broadband router. What did you give/tell them. Unless they screwed up this is all you need as both the inverter (dongle) and your mobile device simply need to be connected to the same wifi.

hi,
Yes, they did. They asked me for the Wifi details (router+password). But nothing else. No idea how to set up again the dongle. It is screw to the inverter. The light is blue flashing. No date since yesterday. I had to switched off my router the night before and when wifi came back, the dongle lost connection and it couldn't to reconnect again (apparently).
Do I need may be to unscrew the dongle and put it back again and try now. I wanted to follow the steps from Youtube but the dongle shows with the icon 'lock' on my computer (on the wifi networks), so I enter my wifi password (from my Virgin provider) and it says: wrong password. No idea what to do.

Alvarez21 So, as the dongle is flashing it cannot connect to the router. I'm assuming that you have checked the wifi signal strength (use your moble phone next to the router and look at the signal strength. If it is low then you might need to think about using a wifi extender to provide the dongle with a stronger signal. If the signal is strong then you are right in that you might need to review the wifi settings in the dongle for which you do need to access the web interface it has using it's own wifi and password. You need to contact the installers to confirm the dongle wifi password so you can acccess it. As part of the installation and commissioning they should have changed it from the default for security reasons. If you still can't connect directly to the dongle through it's wifi then you need to get the installers back to sort it out for you as the dongle may need factory resetting and recommissioning.

thank you for your help, I did something before all this: reset the dongle (pressed the botton underneath). This allows my computer to select the dongle without putting any password... then, I follow the steps from the website (and youtube video). Sorted!!! after one full day of investigation. I am not good at all with this technology. Thanks all of you for your advice.

Alvarez21 Good enough, it seems! We only know what we know until we learn. The very definition of an expert is a person that is one page ahead of you in the manual.
